New PM Boris Johnson has some real leverage over the EU, because if Britain leaves (deal or no deal), several other countries will then also have to courage to leave - and the EU definitely does NOT want that.

EU will be backing down and working with Boris, or the EU will disintegrate.

The ball is now in the EU's court.

Reminds me of the lament (from the title, not the substance of the article) from the Left who said “How did we get a President Trump?” and us conservatives had plenty of ready answers for them!

I know, this wasn’t a “lament” but it made me think there are plenty of Leftists in the UK who are thinking “How did this happen?”

Don't know if you've ever heard of him but there's a Brit named Pat Condell who's posted a number of videos on youtube...most of them about Islam,British politics and European politics.

In one of his videos on the EU he said something like "the European Union is very popular among politicians because it's been very *good* to politicians".

All that smoked salmon...all those Mercedes limos...all those villas on the Italian Riviera.It's a good life!

As a guy who's of proud Irish blood I'm astounded that the Irish are unwilling to be ruled from London (perhaps understandably so) but have no problem whatsoever being ruled from Berlin (the *real* "seat" of the EU).

It's all about Ireland...and the world will probably never know what they've been promised by the Stasi's most famous informant,Frau Merkel.

Even before Brexit comes to an end in October, Boris Johnson can start proposing favorable trade deals to European countries like Italy, Spain, etc., which would encourage them to also leave the EU.
