Here’s something I hope doesn’t become the beginning of a disturbing trend. In a suburb of Nashville, Tennessee, an ICE agent arrived at the home of an illegal alien to make an arrest. The suspect was sitting in his van with son and the officer blocked them off from escaping with his own vehicle. What should have been a fairly routine detention then took a turn for the weird. Neighbors began showing up, delivery food, water and gasoline to the suspect, eventually forming a human chain to block the ICE agent while the man ran back into his house. (The Hill)
A group of neighbors in Hermitage, Tenn., formed a human chain Monday morning to prevent an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent from trying to bring a man into custody.
News Channel 5 Nashville reported that an ICE vehicle had blocked the man, who was inside his van with his son, from leaving his driveway.
Over the course of the morning, neighbors brought the man water, gas and wet rags to allow him to remain in the van, according to the outlet. After about four hours, the group formed a human chain to allow the two to run from the vehicle and enter their house.
By the time all of this was over, local police were on the scene as well, but they didn’t step in on either side of the standoff. They were only there to keep order, not to assist with immigration enforcement activities. (See: sanctuary policies.)
The problem for the ICE agent was that he had an administrative warrant. This authorized him to detain the suspect, but not to forcibly remove him from his home or vehicle. Once the illegal alien left the vehicle to head for the house the agent could have arrested him had he not been blocked by the human chain of neighbors.
First of all, this type of obstruction is illegal and it has nothing to do with immigration law. In Tennessee, Prevention or Obstruction of Legal Writ or Process is a Class A misdemeanor. Depending on the circumstances, additional charges may be brought that are felonies. The ICE agent was following the law by refraining from attempting to remove the man from his vehicle. But as soon as the neighbors moved to block to officer from reaching the illegal alien, they were in violation of the law.
If this town has sanctuary policies in place forbidding the local police from assisting ICE, that’s one thing. But that doesn’t mean that they can blithely stand by and watch a crime being committed just because it proves to be an inconvenience to immigration enforcement. The neighbors were breaking the law, but the local police were negligent as well. This establishes a very damaging precedent and they should all be held to account or we’re going to be seeing this all over the country.
As soon as the “neighbors” started obstructing the ICE officers, the officers should have called for a bus to carry the whole crowd to federal detention cells & charged them with obstruction of justice.
Let a federal grand jury decide if they are likely guilty & then bind over for trial each/every one who is indicted.
It’s past time to STOP such unlawful “vigilante” actions in its tracks, IMO.

Yes, it is now just another leftist hipster urban hell, just like Austin and San Francisco.
ICE should have arrested every last one of them.
All members of the human chain of brainless indoctrinated imbeciles should absolutely have been arrested and jailed for obstruction of justice. And kept there for a good long span of days. They couldn’t go to work, couldn’t sleep in their own bed—the more financial consequences for them, the better. Who do they think they are to defy the laws of the land, in defense of other criminals who ignored our laws? Who are they to decide for all of us that they want to add to our collective financial burden for these illiterate low skilled disease-carrying trash?
The ignorant idiots forming this protective chain should worry more about their kids getting addicted on meth, crack and opiates because they cant get entry level jobs and worry less about the illegal aliens largely responsible as the initial cause.
My question as well: Who are these cleverly-not-identified “neighbors”, and what is their illegalalien status, language, and religion?
Arrest the neighbors too. If they are illegal aliens deport them too.
Chains can be broken.
Take video of the obstructors and charge three or four of them who are in the direct path of the officers. Make sure you catch the officers ordering the obstructors to let them by.
Don’t try to arrest the obstructors at the time. Identify then and Arrest them later.
Research them and if they are illegals, deport them too.
Go back and get a judicial warrant, using the administrative warrant and video as evidence of need.
Every one of these cases, where the illegals refused to open the door, they need to go back and get a warrant to do the job right.
And they need to get good at it, and efficient at it.

Send in Federal Marshals to arrest these ding-dongs.

No you little snowflake, break out the lead ones
Elected Demoocrat officials, at as high a level as mayors and governors, are enabling this pathology with sanctuary city and state policies. They are both “dog whistling” and using a megaphone to announce their implicit approval of these methods.
If the rule of law is to be enforced, then we must prepare for, and be willing to accept, a certain amount of bloodshed and violence as an inevitable and ineluctable necessity. The enforcement of law by government has always contained the often unspoken attribute of application of physical force in doing so. The only valid objection to employing it is the suitability, constitutional legality, appropriateness, and moral justification for unleashing it.
In this case, the very survival of the constitutional republic is at stake. We must be prepared to accept what the open borders crowd, at all levels, seems to be determined to inflict upon us.
The goal of pro-lifers blocking the clinic entrances was to gain time for sidewalk counselors to talk to women and offer them choices. Many abortion-minded women changed their minds and chose life for their babies. Not only did we not lose that war, but attitudes about abortion since then have moved to pro-life, in part, I believe, because they saw that believers were willing to put their bodies on the line for their children.
Couple of flash bangs and some stinger grenades could have solved that problem quick.
But the local cops, presumably at the direction of their chief, should be ashamed of themselves.
That actually would have been a good trade. Let the illegal aliencgo free for a short time longer, and instead arrest 20 idiots. If this happens often enough, we’ll have not just the wall paid off, but a good chunk of the national debt!
