I disagree with this. Uygur is either deluded, lying, or more likely a bit of both with more weight to lying. The Democrats used the similar strategy for 2018 they used in 2006 (lies about what they would do in Congress once they won). It was helped by a bunch of feckless House Republican incumbents who bailed because they did not respect the will of the voters in 2016.
