I don’t have a pension, why should I have to pay for their pension?
Agreed!
Me either. I am employed in a business that was not one of Obama’s favored ones. At the time of his election I had two kids in college and $50k in savings, now I have none, no pension and considering bankruptcy, and I’m supposed to pay for these people to have a pension along with a few million govt employees my age that have been retired for 10 years already?
A very good question to which you will not get a good answer.
I dont have a pension, why should I have to pay for their pension?
Politicians just aren’t scared of debt anymore, but a slumping stock market does scare them. If retirement accounts are going under, they’ll get bailed out. Fiscal soundness is election talk.
Agreed. Why should taxpayers bail out private pension funds? Granted there may have been some manner of criminality on the part of the funds’ managers, but that does nothing to put the onus on the rest of us to make these pensioners whole.
Will it be difficult? Yes. Will it be a problem for these pensioners? Yes.
And, neither of those is a reason to put the strain on taxpayers.
Now, if it’s proven that government failed in required oversight, we may have to rethink this.
SAVE THE PENSIONS!!!
Ditto. They could work, like the rest of America.
You shouldn’t. And neither should I.
