Scotland Yard risked being dragged into a politically charged row over Sir Kim Darroch’s emails after a teenager working for the Brexit Party said he was the middleman who obtained the classified documents.
Steven Edginton, 19, who runs the Brexit Party’s social media feeds, insisted he passed the documents to the political journalist Isabel Oakeshott.
Mr Edginton, who also describes himself as a freelance journalist, said he did not want his name on the articles, subsequently published in the mail on Sunday, “to avoid possible controversy”.

Just like the Hillary emails. Everybody acts like what’s IN the emails is no big deal, the crime that matters is nailing the person dared to let the little people know what’s really going on.

Ben Franklin similarly came in possession of and anonymously made public some embarrassing correspondence by a British (Massachusetts Governor Hutchinson) politician. In both cases a patriotic albeit underhanded act, worthy of praise. That being said, we can probably rely on the stuffed shirts on both sides of the Pond to respond in anger.
I believe the emails were linked by the Remain side. Further driving a wedge between the US and the UK only serves their purposes.

if that’s actually the case, then they miscalculated, because Trump-hating, USA-hating Jeremy Hunt stood up for the UK’s Trump-hating U.S. ambassador who subsequently got run out, thus most likely boosting the chances of pro-USA, pro-Trump Boris Johnson ...
He’s a journalist. He didn’t steal the memos. They were given to him. He just passed them on. In the US this would be perfectly legal. I don’t know about The law in Great Britain.
