CHARLOTTE, N.C. The controversial send her back crowd chant at President Donald Trumps North Carolina rally may have gotten all the headlines, but some Christians are grumbling over something most of the media completely ignored. ... Other critics of the presidents language have been less polite than Hardesty. A commenter on FreeRepublic.com accused the president of blaspheming and mocking God and warned of sure retribution.

My Mom was watching and she made the comment to me that she was put off by it and thought it was awful. She still supports him, but thought that was not necessary. There will be some quite fallout over this in the churches. I would suggest he avoid doing this again. It doesn’t help him any, but hurts him in the eyes of some of his supporters.
Thank you for that stanne.......I appreciate this post and the way you put it.........
While you may be right, at the very lease, to use God’s name or title in such a way is disrespectul.
Trump should try to eliminate GD from his vocabulary as should all people. And people who say “Oh my God” without really meaning to invoke God.
i must admit that I cringed both times he said it. He could have said any other word and it would have not bothered me. I still think Trump is the most fanfckingtastic President ever, but hope he never says GD at a rally again.
I suspect with all the flack, Trump will try to watch his language in front of a camera, as it pertains to God...
Welcome to Free Republic18 years ago!
One hopes that if somehow he was given a do over he would chose his words more carefully in this area.
There are a lot of Christian Never-Trumpers who must reluctantly stand with the rest of President Trumps voters now and again in 2020.
Theyve never gotten over his rich mans persona and the pride they associate with it and him ... or his tweets...lol. All sinful in their eyes and to be avoided in life.
Whether or not they are the forgive and forget Christians we all are working to become, they first need to see what they accept as good behavior from President Trump ... all of the time.
They were validated by these unforced errors.
Me? No worries. I am just a simple man.
His actions speak much louder to me than anything he said in that speech and I also know the kind of people God chooses often confound and confuse the wise.
“Began self monitoring my own tongue some time ago & the GD has been gone for some time.”
Same here and also monitoring taking Jesus name in vain. Don’t do either any more.
I’m so confused by all this stuff.
Trump s been very careful in his choice of words.
I think many of us here, MANY of listened to the majority of his speeches.
I don’t recall him ever doing this, that’s why I was a bit aghast when he did.
I think it’s important for him to learn from the last rally two things...
1. When your audience is getting rude, politely tell them to settle down. (They did with just one look. He wasn’t encouraging them.)
2. Knock off taking the Lord’s name in vain.
Everything else is perfect.
In Scripture there is only ONE unforgivable sin and that is to Blaspheme (Deny) the Holy Spirit
Period
Anyone who says different needs to spend some time in the Bible and stop being sanctimonious saying this will or will not happen. Repentance means to turn from and it is not a regular issue with the President, and what Trump does is between him and the Almighty.
Lean Not on Your own Understanding, Vengeance is MINE sayeth the Lord.
Ezekiel 13 has some additional info for those inclined to read scripture
Swearing in speeches doesnt make somebody tough. Reagan was a tough man who kept the country safe. He didnt curse or use the Lords name in vain in speeches. Pointing this out doesnt make me delicate, just that I value civility and respect the office of the president
Nope....but it is 163rd on my list of 200 problems....
I also don't belong to the Fake Outrage drama club either......
Oh yeah, all the Moral Accountants showed up...
I “cringed” when Trump used GD. Then he did it AGAIN! I’ve been known to use “thwarthy” language sometimes, but I do draw the line at “taking the Lord’s name in vain”.
The “f” bomb is less offensive to me.
Saying goddamn it or goddamned, or using the name of Jesus Christ as profanity should be avoided.
Trump should know better! I get it. He identifies with the working men whose language this reflects, but stick to hell & damn and leave GOD out of it.
I still support Trump 100%. We didn’t elect a pope.
Offend the left all you want to, but try not to offend your Christian base.
It’s not YUGE, but cut it out.
Obama didn't swear - but he did his best to ruin this country forever.
Your preference?
That didn’t take long. The usual from FR.
