Playing the role they have been programmed to play, (victims) the radical progressive “squad” of freshman Democratic lawmakers held a news conference Monday to react to President Donald Trump calling them out for their contempt for America.
And while that spectacle went as you might expect, there was a interesting moment when Rep. Ilham Omar was asked specifically about criticism from Trump that she’s pro-al Qaeda.
A simple repudiation of the terrorist group would have dismissed the assertion and moved things along to the next question, but Omar, a Somali refugee and one of the first two Muslim women elected to Congress, refused to do that.
“I will not dignify it with an answer because I know that every single Islamophobe, every single person who is hateful, who is driven by an ideology of ‘othering’ as this president is, rejoices in us responding to that and us defending ourselves,” she said.

Around after 9/11 happen, I came home from my job and college classes and my sister was crying on the couch with my mom, and asked them what happened? My mom told me my sister’s best friend’s Dad was shot in the head at a convenience store down in Texas.
He co-owned a convenience store in New Jersey with his brother and they bought one down in Texas and were going to relocate their families down their once they got the one in Texas going and sell everything in New Jersey. And possibly buy a 2nd store in Texas as well. Well some racist redneck idiot decided it was his duty to kill a Muslim to answer for 9/11 so he walked into the convenience store and shot the man in the face, murdering him. Just because he wore a Turban, he was a Sheik, not even a Muslim.
Violence against Muslims and people who were perceived to be Muslims rose right after 9/11 and George W Bush made that speech to help quell America’s fear and anxiety.
I know now that 18 years later that what he said seems very “pro Muslim” and less “don’t kill people you think are Muslim” today, but at the time, and with in perspective of what was going on. I will say, George W Bush did the right thing by saying what he did.
