‘Trump’s Going to Get Re-elected, Isn’t He?’
The New York Times ^ | June 16, 2019 | Thomas L. Friedman

Posted on 07/17/2019 9:27:09 AM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

I’m struck at how many people have come up to me recently and said, “Trump’s going to get re-elected, isn’t he?” And in each case, when I drilled down to ask why, I bumped into the Democratic presidential debates in June. I think a lot of Americans were shocked by some of the things they heard there. I was.

Yes, but not just because the democrats are clowns. Yes? Because Trump is going to work his arse off to get re-elected and we are going to work our arse’s off as well.

Democratic presidential candidates are shocking and disgusting a lot of normal Americans to pander to the 20% of the population that represent their hardcore base.

See, you bring an interesting topic....in relation to the WWE.

The formula to a typical ‘season’ is that the good guys and bad guys must ‘battle’, with some bad guys occasionally sulking over their poor loss, and the moderator accidentally getting into the middle of the fight occasionally. Virtually everything that Trump does...revolves around the WWE philosophy. I’m surprised that the the Democrats haven’t realized that.

Yes. He is. And he’ll have more flexibility after the election.

But please, spare me the revolution! It can wait.

So the author still wants "the revolution", he just wants to wait until after the election, and until after the Democrats have fooled the votes.

“He’s up against voter fraud.”

That, and a media and pop culture in the pocket of the opposition.

Imagine, if you will, a strong and successful baseball team like the Yankees playing last-place Baltimore, and every umpire and 90% of the people in the stands are wearing Orioles caps...

There’s an old Arabic expression that translates roughly into “people prefer a strong horse to a weak one”. It means that when making practical decisions, there is no room for pity. The left today with all their grievance politics is one weak horse. Sure, everyone wants to right injustice. But who we choose to lead us there and how they seek to resolve it matter. The left want to point to things like identity, cry grievance, and demand justice by some form of reparation or another. That just creates more injustice. And it’s a tough coalition to hold together because when you boil it all away it comes down to pity and who wants the pitiable as a leader? Maybe everyone has a grievance they can point to - but each is different and not relatable. A black man’s grievance doesn’t relate to a woman’s grievance doesn’t relate to a gay grievance doesn’t relate to an immigrant’s grievance. One man without a grudge can resolve them by making a level field where all can succeed.

I imagine this thought has sunken into the heads of any Democrats who are not totally deluded.

Somehow ‘they’ can’t quite grasp that giving special treatment to a particular group does NOT make things “equal”.

They took off their masks a little too soon.

~~~
A lot of us have known they were hardcore socialists for years. It’s the reason why libertarians such as myself find republicans much more tolerable than democrats. The threat of neocons isn’t nearly as personal and immediate than the threat of socialists. But I remember getting scoffed at by democrats a mere 2 or 3 years ago when I would tell them that I’m a libertarian who believes that socialism is entrenched in their party. They no longer can deny this fact any more. The question is, how many of them will continue to ply themselves to that party despite it’s radicalization and unmasking
