As he piles up successes (and gaffes), the Democrats implode
As we settle into high summer and the period of maximum difficulty in finding anything to fill in hours of television news, especially 24/7 news television, two well-established political trends are emerging in this pre-electoral period: The presidents opponents continue to dig themselves into foxholes that they will not be able to escape, and the presidents tactical victories continue to be compromised by his verbal sloppiness. In completely nonpartisan terms, both phenomena are disappointing. The process of the presidents leaving verbal lapses for his enemies to exploit, and of the Democrats and national media doing so excessively, is more complicated than it seems. The initial shock at the success of this blunt and volcanic man who attacked all factions of both parties and assaulted almost every element of OBushinton political correctness and conventional wisdom, whose inaugural address was described at once by George W. Bush to Hillary Clinton as some weird s***, has mutated into a fear that Trump presages a Dark Age of dictatorship, official thuggery, and oppressive know-nothingism.

I strongly disagree about President Trump’s “verbal sloppiness”. I think that is a key part of his tactics. I think the Democrats consistently underestimate him. They think they smell blood in the water and they engage in feeding frenzies which are far, far worse than his “verbal sloppiness”.
I think Trump is a political genius and his “inappropriate comments” are a key part of the genius.
Trump is throwing a knuckle ball that they can’t figure out how to hit, even though it looks like it should be easy to.
I disagree with this statement. The Left will spin anything Trump says so they can bash him, knowing the media will pile on, too...
Exactly.
What really happened this week?
Trump purposefully started a Democrat Civil War by making the 4 weirdos the face of the party.
Brilliant.
How did he accomplish that?
With knowing “gaffes”.
Trump provoke his opponents into overreacting. His latest barrage directed at “the Squad”, we are told, was a tactical mistake. But 48-hours later it looks like Pelosi has surrendered to “the Squad” and probably be an ineffective figurehead until the next Congress. And in that power vacuum it seems likely that the socialist hot-heads are going to impeach Trump, thereby sealing his election victory in 2020.
We hope he IS the political genius you say he is. I am still upset that he catches more grief than Hillary who supposedly lost in 2016.
I don't watch or pay attention to MSM so I wouldn't know that. Why do conservatives still bother with MSM when they know that MSM is simply a tool of the Left?
PDJT has met them all throughout his career, his life, and has retained profiles of them all in his memory. He knows each of his antagonists better than they know themselves. He uses their profiles against them. He wins, we win, they lose.
I admit that I had hoped some things would move faster.
But for right now I think movement on draining the swamp is plain to see. AG Barr is the right guy and the pieces are lined up. Epstein and other sex traffickers are going to be part of this, and I have high confidence that the swamp will be drained all the way up to the 2020 election.
And the immigration fix has also been slow, but the lines are real clear: You either love America or you love foreign invaders. Each political party has staked on their position on either side. There is no going back. The American people in 2020 will decide if they want to hand the country over to foreign invaders or not.
I am usually a very cynical person and I usually expect things to go badly. But right now, I think that's just a lazy way to analyze our situation. Trump has put himself on all the winning sides and he has made sure that the Democrats are on all the losing sides. This is going to be OK.
Concur. President Trump baits liberals, and they always bite. The beauty of it is, he does so by expressing American values in terms the common man appreciates. Used to be called “plain speech”.
I need this man. He fights. And he wins!
He’s saving this for the time he can say, “What do you mean I hate immigrants? I married two of them!”
It was no tactical mistake.
Trump never mentioned a single one of their names, and yet four complete DINGBATS stood up. LOL! It was brilliant on our President's part.
National Review is rapidly becoming the latest Newsweak.
It was a tactical mistake. But when your strategy is sound, even mistakes can work to your advantage. As you pointed out, “the Squad” reacted as if they had been named. What this tells us is that the Democrats still have no idea how to handle Trump, his goals or his methods.
You are spot on.
Grief from who? Those who have hated him since he was the candidate? BTW I wore my Trump KAG 2020 cap all of Saturday here in Raleigh NC and the only comment I got was from a woman of color who said she loved my cap and wished she had the nerve to wear hers!
A powerful tool totally protected by the Constitution.
I love how everyone thinks Trump makes mistakes when he tweets. He knows EXACTLY what he’s doing. He’s a stable genius and always has been. The whole “he’s unhinged” thing comes straight from the dem playbook.
