Impeachment is a political process. No proof of actual criminal activity is needed. The Founders gave the House the power to decide just what an impeachable offense is. No appeal is possible.
Benjamin Franklin once remarked that the House could legally impeach a president just because the president had a bad temper.
So yeah, the House could impeach Trump For the “high crime” of having a funny haircut. That would be perfectly legal, and constitutional. Would the American people be okay with that? And would the Senate convict? That’s another story.
That’s not a high crime.

Dems have to provide what these are or they need to be impeached.
Without Dems providing what the high crimes and misdemeanors are one could be impeached for having bad hair.

Your forgetting, the people have a say in this by one means or another.
Then ALL Americans have to have it pounded into their heads that if Dems try to do this they have no proof that Trump committed any crimes and that it is yet another witch hunt with an attempted burning (removal by Senate).
also why impeach close to an election let the public decide.

Right. But that is a very easy thing to do. A “high crime” does not have to be a serious crime. The Founders considered a “high crime” to be any crime committed by a high official, such as the president.
So the House Democrats need only say that Trump violated his oath of office by making racist remarks. Since Trump is a high official, that’s a high crime. That’s silly, I know. But it is legal, and constitutional.

True enough. But you have more faith in the American people than I do. If Trump is impeached and then removed, the folks who voted for Trump would be very upset. But 99% of them would do nothing. After all, there are bills to pay. And the cable TV still works.
So there would be a few angry calls to Rush. And that would be about it.
By the way, I’m not taking some sort of holier-than-thou stance. What would I do if the Deep State removed Trump? Well, I would be upset. But I don’t think I’d take my musket down from the wall.
