A Senate Judiciary subcommittee held a hearing on Google and its censorship policy with the companys vice president for government affairs and the father of Alison Parker, who was killed during a live TV broadcast.
FYI. It hasn’t started yet.
3:15pm EDT
Okay. They must have delayed it. Originally supposed to be 2:30 PM.
It’s all good! Thanks for the post.
Parker is the Virginia tv reporter who was shot to death on live tv by a former employee and her father wants to have any postings of the murder, either by the assailant or the tv cameraman that was also murdered available on Google, YouTube or other video posting sites.
As difficult as it is for the families of victims, I’m not in favor of eliminating such posted videos - for two reasons. 1) I think the circulation of incorrect information can be reduced by being able to see the actual footage, just as is true with the Zapruder film that was hidden from public view for 15 years before it was shown on tv. 2) Doctored videos could be circulated or even sold on the underground market which could change the popular recollection.
For the benefit of history, I prefer access to the raw info. Of course, I’ve never had a close family member blown away on tv either.
He wants to have any postings blocked. Somehow, I forgot to include that word.
Many thanks for the link. I do so want to hear Dennis Prager’s opening statement since his Prager University 5-minute video on the Ten Commandments was placed on Google/YouTube;s restricted list of videos promoting, among other things, pornography and violence.
Heads up! Hearing has just started. Cruz speaking now.
Google rep about to speak.
Cruz just brought up YouTube.
Cruz just produced GOOGLE documents in which the company used the word “censorship.”
Cruz just mentioned Praeger U and YouTube censorship of it.
They censored the 10 Commandment vidio because of reference to murder?????
Lame!
His body english says, “I’m lying.”
In the interest of saving my desktop monitor, I’ll have to hit the mute and change pages when its the dirtbag Blumenthal’s turn.
I wish they would get into YouTube’s Demonetization/Remonetization scam to stifle traffic to conservative videos. Perhaps at a future hearing.
Blackburn is RELENTLESS! GO!!!
