Historian Steven M. Gillon recalls his friendship with John F. Kennedy Jr. on the 20th anniversary of his fatal plane crash. The life of the late magazine publisher is being chronicled in a new A&E documentary titled 'Biography: JFK Jr The Final Year,' as well as a book by Gillon titled 'America's Reluctant Prince.'
Steven M. Gillon can vividly recall when he and his pal John F. Kennedy Jr. were at a bar watching a fight on the big screen and a man pushed him aside and exclaimed Youre John! hugging the son of late President John F. Kennedy.
He said, I loved your father, Gillon recalled to Fox News. That happened a lot. A couple of minutes later, the guy comes out again. Hes dragging his wife behind him and says, Marilyn, I want you to meet my friend, John F. Kennedy Jr. John reaches out and he says, Hi, Marilyn. Ive heard so much about you. Im glad I finally got to meet you. And I looked at him. He had just met this guy 20 minutes ago. And John said, What was wrong with that? I made two people really happy.

A&Es documentary titled Biography: JFK Jr. The Final Year, which is airing on Tuesday, the 20-year anniversary of his death, explores the events impacting Kennedy before he perished, including coping with the fatal illness of his closest friend and cousin, Anthony Radziwill, his struggling marriage and his quest to rescue his political magazine, George. It features interviews with those who knew Kennedy over the years, including Gillon.
I strongly suspect Hillary had him killed to remove an obstacle to her Presidential ambitions. Same goes for Paul Wellstone.
I don’t doubt that. He’d likely been president one day. I’d never voted for him but he would have been far better than the crap the democrats are spewing out today.
but he died. he is history. Would have been another liberal Democrat for fawning media.
not news, or current events.
Arkancide?
From what I understand his flight training was at a critical juncture. He happened into a situation which required him to focus on his instruments and ignore his intuition. In other words, he failed the acid test.
Does anyone think he would have failed in politics too? Of course Democrats never fail in Identity Politics.
It really is unbelievable. Who gives a shit any more about this family?
“He was going to go back to school and turn his life around...”
Amen!
Its not like the 70s or 80s, but it seems the Kennedys still have some remaining agents rin the media, always ready to give them some spotlight and positive spin.
Watched a documentary about his flight. Late planning, and ill advised. Bad flight path. Communication problems. It was quite a few years ago and I can’t remember many of the specifics but he really seemed to be a little to casual and cavalier about procedures and the dangers
There are bold pilots and old pilots. Just not old, bold pilots.
Kennedys:
Can’t Drive
Can’t Fly
Can’t Ski
Can’t Skipper a Boat......but they know what’s best for us.
He promised that they’d spend the rest of their lives together ...
The tards in the media still care about the Kennedy crime family. That is about all.
And he wasn’t IFR rated.
Not night qualified, flew in inclement weather, no instrument training, spatial disorientation, flew between cloud layers with no moon, couldn’t tell up from down. Would have done the same to the US if elected.
He would have won in a walk in 2008. Obama would have been his VP likely.
How would he have done? A sight better than Obama as he seemed like a pretty level-headed guy in terms of politics somewhat. We are talking late 90s Democrat, btw.
The downside is that Obama would be in his first term today.
He sure was a cute little boy, though!
