Despite being called 'hate propaganda,' the anti-abortion movie has bucked all trends.
Unplanned is a film that boasts no major stars, has received mostly poor ratings, and has been called "a piece of hpate propaganda" against women and abortion providers by Joyce Arthur of the Abortion Rights Coalition of Canada.
Still, the movie, based on the memoir by Abby Johnson, a former Texas Planned Parenthood staffer-turned-anti-abortion activist, has opened in 56 theatres across Canada. A film shot for a modest $6 million US is being shown on giant screens alongside Toy Story 4 and Spider-Man: Far from Home, a feat most makers of Canadian films shot on a similar budget could only dream of.
On the film's opening weekend, women's and pro-choice groups are planning demonstrations around the country, while some church groups and anti-abortion groups are calling for outings to watch it.

As I have the day off, I am off to see this movie later this afternoon before it closes. Hopefully, it will do VERY well so that other faith related movies come here.
Of course, the left, pro-preborn baby murder types label the movie as 'hate speech'. In reality, the 'hate' is propagated on the unborn, dismembering them through suction, pulling their tiny bodies apart piece by piece, without even the benefit of anesthesia. What a cruel creature we can be.
In this country, abortion is legal until the baby's head crowns, based upon the 500 year old legal concept that a 'person' does not become a 'person' until the head crowns. Several years ago, a Conservative MP brought forth a motion for parliament to study 'when life begins'. This could/would have set limits on when an abortion could take place. It was defeated, the Liberals and NDP voting unanimously against the motion and a number of Conservatives (not 'conservative' in any way, shape or form) also voting against the motion.
Hopefully, this movie will melt the hearts of a few 'pro-choice' (pro unborn slaughter) types. That is what happened with Abby Johnson. It can also happen to others. Praise God!
Persistence, that’s how.
Incredible faith and determination by the filmmakers.
Hats off to them!
Clearly this event is causing journ-o-lists at the CBC to grind their teeth down to the nubs.
It’s a beautiful thing.
And fellow Canadians showed how they hate free speech. Why do they care so much what movie I see?
AND to the Canadian distributor! He is a Pastor who also runs a small booking company. Kudos also go to the CEO of Cineplex, which owns 80% of all theatres in Canada. In an open letter, CEO Ellis Jacob wrote that it was a matter of freedom of expression and that: “...a country that censors content, opinions and points of view because they are different from our own is not a country that any of us want to live in.” Amazing! Someone who is obviously pro-abort (at least from his comment), yet is prepared to show the film.
Thanks for your comment, AFPC.
Courage all around!
I just saw it in Toronto with 4 friends-the place was packed!
The bottom line is, the pro-abortion POV comes from the pit of hell! Most pro-aborts are blinded to God’s existence. They do not believe in heaven or hell, nor God, nor satan. They do not understand where their hatred of pro-life attitudes and people come from. Scales still blind their eyes. satan has had millenia to perfect his deceptions.
Canadian moviegoers trying to get in to see Unplanned are being assaulted at the entrances by enraged pro-aborts.
Peaceful, tolerant, decent, compassionate, progressive pro-aborts, that is.
We would like to see it in Mexico. The Mexico Canada USA coalition.
I am hoping that this week’s showings at the Chinook theatres in Calgary, will also be full each showing. Stampede ended yesterday, so hopefully more people will go to this movie during its run.
That hippy dippy new age woman who is running for US president says USA is the best country for a child to grow up in...
IF THEY AREN’T ABORTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They talk about hate? Planned Parenthood is an institution based on the hate of babies, which destroys as many of them as it can.
They are very Orwellian in nature. Preventing murder (of unborn children) is ‘hate’.

Yes, we will see what happens tonight with wife and I. So much for free speech. Our event is a hosted event. The downtown Catholic church rented a theater for our use, and are sponsoring the event, so it is not published on the theater website, so not even sure if the rabble rousers know about it.
Perhaps you doubt what God can do to melt a heart. If even one person is moved to Jesus, it is worth it. If it changes one person’s view of abortion, it is worth it.
I just got back from the movie. Though showtime was a Monday afternoon at 2:10PM, there were 40+ people in a 95 seat theatre. Not too bad for an afternoon showing on a week day in the summer. There are four more showings tonight and it continues until the 18th. It is also appearing in a second Calgary theatre.
Ours was a private showing in my town. So I think because it wasn’t at a major theater like Cineplex and not advertised beyond facebook, we had no protestors.
