Monday marks a week since changes to the sitting, lying or camping in public places ordinance in Austin went into effect loosening laws for the areas homeless.
For someone like Dawn Howell, its the opportunity to pitch a tent in a public space and stay in one place.
Her home is a makeshift tent engineered by Howell herself. A thin blanket serves as her foundation and a bed sheet keeps her covered. Its all supported by a bicycle on one side and a bucket with an umbrella on the other. She calls it the Fortress of Doom.

How did Austin eventually get rid of the Occucommunists’ encampments?
“people of Austin going to stand for this? “
Yes.
” Are the people of Austin going to stand for this? “
Yup.
Auston, sh*thole of the future.
In a way, it’s a pleasure to watch each and every liberal, corrupt, Democrat-run (but I repeat myself) city turn into a disease infected collection of slime.
The people of Austin feed the bears and elect like minded idiots.
If you compare landscapes....2019 to 1930s (the hobo era)...it is becoming very identical.
But a lot of this modern problem revolves around mental patients having no facility to hold them....guys getting out of prison and back onto drugs quickly...evolving meth, opioid crisis, and heroin coming back....then finally so many deep into debt with no potential to ever come back.
IIRC, Austin is the liberal enclave within Texas.
Every major metro area in Texas is a liberal enclave. Austin is just the mothership.
Austin, Dallas, San Antonio, and Houston. We in Fort Worth are not going gently :)
My new home state of KY is similar, but some are worse than others. Louisville would be our mother ship. :)
The news media are describing the situation as very tents.
I used to live in Fort Worth back in the 60’s. I seem to remember the neighborhood being called Benbrook.
What do you suggest? Bitch and moan? Got that here. The left has figured out that the right won’t do anything extreme, so they’re going to keep pushing the line in the sand. Only problem is the cliff is right behind us, and most seem willing to just fall off the cliff rather than push forward.
Stand for it?
Not the ones who can vote with their feet.
Which Austin is fixing to find out the hard way...
Agree. Future scenario. Swarm the country with illegals. Not enough housing. Let them set up tent cities then burden the paying population with a need to free housing to remove the plight . Meanwhile ignore vets or senior citizens who have paid taxes and a heavy personal price for years in exchange for votes and the Dems form of voter slavery
The Democrats would like nothing better than to turn Texas into another success story like California, Illinois, New York, etc.
.....what you did there........ :)
Howell is an engineer?? /s
LOL! It is still there. Visited 7 years ago and it was still nice. Not sure about now!
The first one got stolen, the second one I burned down, she said recalling the day she was cooking and accidentally set the tent on fire. The third one, the old man took off with, and the fourth one got stolen.
You would think she would have learned by now. No mention if she was a drug addict or alcoholic. Which is the majority of these people.
