Nathan Bedford Forrest was every bit as talented a cavalry commander as the more famous JEB Stuart. His association with the KKK damanged his reputation, even though he was only a nominal head of that organization and later withdrew his support entirely.
One can respect a man for his strengths while not admiring him for every single aspect of his history.

Warts and all, I have more respect for Gen. Forrest than I have for the entire United States Congress as it currently exists.

He didn’t start the KKK but he shut it down. All that he’s blamed for started happening a couple of decades after his death. He was also one of the first proponents of getting black people into professional jobs.

Amen.
As another poster has already said, Ted, stick to Canadian issues.
You have no right to stick your nose in our Tennessee business.
Go back to Canada Ted.

And I for one would have no issue with his statue coming down.Yep. This garbage plays right into the hands of liberals who accuse Republicans of being the party of KKK racists and the Jim Crow south.
Republicans have no business honoring Nathan Bedford Forrest.

St. Ted of Canada speaks.

Ted again sending signals of friendship with democrat KkK members. He could have pointed that it is a democrat thing, but, he prefers, like in Chicago riots, blaming Trump or a GOP member instead of the democrats as the real insitgators.

Do these creeps ever do any real work??? He should stick his nose out of TN’s business and let them be free to do what they want. Let the citizens of that state decide who they want to honor.
Ted is still one of the most annoying guys on our side.
To: conservative98
Nathan Bedford Forrest was a Democrat. We need to remind everyone of that fact.
