Rick Perry: Now that Ross Perot is gone, I can tell this story
Dallas News ^ | 7/12/19 | Rick Perry

Posted on 07/13/2019 5:57:41 AM PDT by texas_mrs

This week, the nation remembers Ross Perot for his success in business, his two independent White House bids and his no-nonsense, straight Texas talk. His love of country, larger-than-life personality and generosity are all part of his legacy that will live on. But there is another little-known part of the life of Ross Perot that should be told now that he is gone. He was a tireless, but private, supporter of our wounded veterans. During my time as governor of this great state, I had the honor and privilege of knowing countless warriors who stepped forward to serve in Iraq and Afghanistan and returned home with horrific wounds of war. U.S. Army Cpl. Alan Babin Jr. is one such hero. While serving in Iraq in 2003 as a medic in the 82nd Airborne, Alan was shot in the abdomen while tending to a fallen comrade. While Alan survived his injury, he faced a long and difficult road to recovery, complicated by the onset of meningitis and a stroke-induced coma that left him confined to a wheelchair for the rest of his life. On the one-year anniversary of his wounding, I joined Alan and his family for a small gathering. He was still in very bad shape, neurologically and physically incapacitated. When I asked his mother, Rosie, what I could do to help, she said she was eager to get him out of the hospital and back home, but struggling with the prospect of transporting Alan to his many medical visits.

Ross Perot did not get us Clinton. Bush got us Clinton because he broke his promise and trust by not keeping his word. If Perot did not run, I am sure I would’ve stayed home on Election Day.

“you got us Bubba Clinton”

Two Bushes, a Clinton, an Obama...what would it have mattered...America had almost 30 years of sh*tstorm government, such horrendous government under all of these extremely corrupt globalists that we might only extricate ourselves from it by destroying the entire nation.

I’ll give Perot a pass if only because the choice given us was worse and worse anyway.

“What is Electronic Data Systems for $500, Alex?”

A company formed before Medicare was passed.

A businessman in the WH will always be better than a corrupt politician. Perot would have been great.

Under Ross Perot the income from “other than” the Federal Government (Insurance companies, etc.) was trivial.

And the deep state sheeple blame him for Clinton.

Perot should have run in the Republican primary. He might have become president.

Instead we got eight years of Clinton.

We were all naive, back then.

Sorry, but I was wide-awake back then. I knew Bush was a phony when he campaigned on 'Read my lips. No new taxes,' and then signed a tax increase as soon as he was in office. The coward called it a 'revenue enhancement.'

I never trusted GHWB after that, nor did I trust his son, GWB. As it turned out I was right. GWB's policies caused the real estate meltdown. If you want the details, visit my FR home page.

Looking back at history-as we know it now-can you HONESTLY say you are proud of Bush? Can you honestly say you’re happy to have been stabbed in the back three times by that family? Are you actually telling us that you are sorrowful that the deep-stater, the globalist, didn’t get a chance to further his agenda?

This is really all hindsight. Had we not had Clinton-we probably wouldn’t have had 43. Then we wouldn’t have had Obama and we wouldn’t have Trump. It takes a certain sequence of events to bring about where we are today. Who knows what would have happened in ‘96 and then in 2000. But odds are-we wouldn’t be where we are today with Trump had Bush won in ‘92.

Mr. Perot’s raging against the machine, I am certain, was of great benefit to Presidents Trump’s success.

Rick Perry did a great service in the article. I never knew that Mr. Perot cared so deeply about Veterans. To be mentioned in a sentence with Gary Sinise is indeed high praise.

4. Has anybody ever gotten to the bottom of this incident? Did Ross scuttle his own campaign? What spooked the Billionaire who could have easily hired a mercenary army for protection?

What spooked his campaign? High poll numbers that showed he was surging in popularity past Bush and Clinton.

Perot was a Texas Democrat who ran as an independent. He ran to help get Clinton elected. Call it an 'insurance policy.' The odds were very good that Clinton was going to win, but the Democraps wanted to make sure, so ran Perot as a spoiler to make sure. But, the unexpected happened. Perot proved to be more popular than either of his fellow candidates.

So, Perot concocted a yarn about someone in the Bush campaign was planning to spoil his daughter's impending wedding. He said he had to drop out of the race to keep it from happening. This was a plausible story because GHWB was a known dirty-trickster. Perot later came back in, but by then he was tainted goods. He was still more popular than Bush, but his popularity now below that of Clinton.

In the end, exit polls showed that Perot had likely stolen an equal number of votes from both candidates, but the Republicans never forgave him and blamed him for GWHB's loss.

What they conveniently overlook was that going into the campaign, GHWB's numbers were fantastic. He had just 'won' the Gulf War against Saddam Hussein, the economy was fairly good and the mood of the country was optimistic. Once GHWB started campaigning, his numbers started dropping and continued their downward slide right up to the election. Not to mention that he was terrible in the debates.

That's because the politicians persist with the lie that only 'experienced' politicians should be at the helm of the ship of state.

the bush family is just as bad as the Clintons. they just are better at hiding the graft and theft. all you need to know is that The bush family participated as partners to the Clintons in the looting of funds from Haiti relief.
