Labor Secretary Alex Acosta said Friday he will resign amid controversy over the way he handled a sex crimes case against wealthy businessman Jeffrey Epstein a decade ago when he was U.S. attorney for southern Florida.

I will agree with on the work permit issues, but that falls on Trump to set the policy. I cant imagine Stephen Miller supporting those policies. Trump must be placating the corporations.
Holy Shiite. Can I see a link for that? Havent heard it. Im just starting the trafficked book, its probably going to be in there...
I don’t know a thing about Acosta.
But I know one thing-he should never, ever, ever have resigned.
Period.
He is gone? Notch the belt, and move one up, or one down, begin the attack.
This is the Left at work. It is what they do.
Unless someone can PROVE he was complicit (which they would never be able to do) he and his boss should have given them a giant middle finger.
Acosta was a Democrat I think..
Yep. And some dim bulbs, even here on FR don’t get it.
The end of Yom Kippur is Celebrated with a bit of a feast.
One additional fact I learned from the Acosta press conference was the early involvement of DOJ in DC. A DOJ representative flew down to participate in one of the first meetings chaired by Acosta to plan a strategy on how to proceed. That direct involvement of DOJ continued all the way thru the process. Acosta adhered to DOJ policy including the decision on not notifying the victims about the deal.
That post HAD to be sarc. Nobody but nobody is really that dang dumb enough to think CF should head up anything higher than dog catcher!
After watching his press conference I didn’t think he did anything any other prosecutor wouldn’t have done. Those who paint these as black and white choices are just naive. Every prosecution carries a risk that the perp may walk and when he’s a billionaire who can afford the best lawyers on the planet, we’ve all seen that movie before.
So Acosta forced the DA to go after a plea that required jail time (albeit cushy), registration as a sex offender, and restitution to victims. That’s not all Epstein deserved but maybe in FL nearly 20 years ago it was all we could have hoped for.
It’s a new day, “me too” prevails and there’s a new sheriff in town. Maybe what Acosta did in the end will be a key step in not only putting Epstein away for life but in learning a lot more about who was involved with this crap.
I want to see feds marching out of Pedo Island’s underground tunnels with boxes of evidence, that’s what I want to see...
“Carly Fiorina could be a good Secretary of Labor.”
For Clinton.
If Acosta hadn’t got the sentence he got where he had to register as a sex offender he’d still be flying around with Clinton and others and this would be crazy conspiracy theory against a rich connected Dem.
He’d have beat the rap in a trial.
That said, I think revolving door cabinet secretaries is a good thing.
“I read that he was allowed to stay at his home 6 days a week for his prison time.”
Not exactly, he was on work release six days. That was the local Democrat decision.
“is worth remembering that the Florida state grand jury came back with only one count against Epstein who had the best legal team money can buy.”
He would have beat the rap if they’d gone after him big time.
They got him as a sex offender.
The question is, what was the Obama DoJ doing to follow up and get him?
Nothing.
Yes, but my question is why did he not inform the victims of the deal, which he was required to do so legally?
The Obama DOJ had no interest given the vulnerability of the Clintons and other Dems. It was bad enough that Acosta got a plea deal. Being a registered sex offender didnt do much to slow down Epstein and his associations. The big question for me is why now the renewed interest.
Acosta said it was not DOJ policy at the time. It was subsequently changed.
Ok thank you.
“The Obama DOJ had no interest given the vulnerability of the Clintons and other Dems.”
I think that’s a given.
If you have not viewed the Acosta press conference, you should. It infuriates me when I see the TV pundits repeat absolute falsehoods and claim they saw the presser. The coverage by the MSM, including Fox, has been horrible.
But since the press is a corrupt bunch of sluts and hypocrites - they CARE about the prosecutor "not getting a good enough 'deal'" and the same press gives a pass to the men who raped the children.
Why?
Because the men who flew on Epstein's plane (the plane with a queen size bed on it) were ALL powerful democrats...yes, the men who raped children were powerful democrat - every damn one of 'em. And the press gives the rapists passes.
Is that sick or what?
THERE WAS NEVER ONE REPUBLICAN ON THAT PLANE. AND THE PRESS - Washington Post, New York Times, CNN, MSNBC, Morning Joe, and CHUCK TODD INCLUDED - SUCK. Suck for handing out passes to child rapists because they have a D by their names.
