President Donald Trump announced Thursday hell be issuing an executive order directing federal agencies to provide the Commerce Department with records pertaining to the number of citizens and noncitizens in our country. Speaking to reporters from the White House Rose Garden, Trump said his administration is not backing down on our effort to determine the citizenship status of the United States population. While Attorney General William Barr said the citizenship question would not be included on the 2020 census, Trump detailed what his administration will do instead.
I am hereby ordering every department and agency in the federal government to provide the Department of Commerce with all requested records regarding the number of citizens and noncitizens in our country, Trump said, as ABC News reported. They must furnish all legally accessible records in their possession immediately. We will utilize these vast federal databases to gain a full, complete, and accurate count of the noncitizen population.
I have researched it and I don’t use Google because they hide and omit results that inform in ways they oppose.
The fact you say you know it all and push to use Google for research reveals you are not a serious research analyst.
Good day to you.
“wouldnt stop the 2020 Census from proceeding”
You don’t think an injunction from a court to halt the process would work? I’m not so sure.
Overall, that’s an excellent and well-reasoned post Hostage-dude. Thanks for taking the time to write, edit and post it. A very nice piece of work.
“Therell never be another like him.”
Not exactly, no. But if he’s done anything at all, he’s proved beyond all doubt that a strong, pragmatic, principled leader CAN bulldoze through the tortuous political stagnation of Washington D.C., kick down the doors of bureaucracy, endlessly bludgeon and lampoon an in-the-tank-for-the DNC press corps, publicly decry Congressional stonewalling, grab the levers of Executive Power and affirmatively steer government Departments and Agencies onto paths toward solutions...
Trump has proved that a President can do ALL of those things, and do them WITH THE ENTHUSIASTIC SUPPORT of a mammoth tract of the American public.
If that does not lead to an “I could maybe do that” thought process among other possible future Presidential candidates, then — yeah — this is a flash-in-the-pan, one-time-only deal, and by January 20th, 2025 The Republic will begin to sink back into political gridlock, and once again resume it’s leftist-led slouching toward Gomorrah.
Yep and he received Japan’s highest award by their Emperor.
Kudos to you for learning who Deming was. Deming is not only a hero in Japan, he’s also a giant of history when it comes to the US Census.
He was a statistical genius coming up with methods of counting and sampling that were extremely efficient and accurate.
Why count 100% when counting a fraction using efficient unbiased sampling gets the same result within say 0.5%?
Put into another context, why should we buy the latest and greatest LED monitors with 240 FPS when our human eye can’t tell the difference between 240 and 120 FPS? The limitations are based on sampling rates. This is what underlies Deming’s genius.
But there are other mathematical geniuses. A full MRI has in the past taken an hour in the tank. Statistical methodology using only 10% of the full scan data acquired under a smart sampling algorithm requires less than 5 minutes in the tank and cranks out images that expert radiologists can’t tell the difference from the full data scans.
Thousands of examples exist that render pointless a wasteful brute force approach.
Here’s a simple example to drive the point home:
Joe and Don are tasked with counting the number of bushels of corn grown in a hundred acres of land. They divide the land into two equal parcels of 50 acres each.
*** Database of related information ***
“The two parcels are known to be equivalent in terms of soil capacity but within each 50-acre parcel, there are variations in soil fertility gradients. A soil gradient map is available. But on average when comparing John’s parcel with Jim’s parcel, the conditions and capacity are equivalent.”
Slow Joe adopts a brute force method where he counts the ears of corn on every corn stalk. It takes him a month to get it done.
Smart Don adopts a sample plan that accounts for soil fertility striations on a gradient map. It takes him 3 days to get the job done.
Slow Joe and Smart Don compare results. Slow Joe comes up with an average 130 bushels per acre. Smart Don comes up with an average 128.5 bushels per acre.
Slow Joe says Smart Don is using the wrong approach and that Smart Don’s results were just ‘lucky’. The next year they switch parcels and the results are Slow Joe calculates 129 bushels per acre and Smart Don comes in with 131 bushels per acre. Slow Joe is stubborn and won’t change. Besides he’s not into all that fancy math and all that.
Smart Don has utilized a database of related information to get the job done in about one-tenth the time.
It’s all about sampling, efficiency, and testing.
> “numbers of persons”
The ‘numbers of persns’ is the key operative phrase. The Commerce Department has a long, long history of dealing with how that phrase is handled. From freed slaves to American Indians who pay taxes or don’t, the Apportionment Population has settled into a definition of who has rights under the Constitution and is subject to the jurisdiction of the United States.
Illegals are not subject to US jurisdiction. They are subject to deportation unless they qualify for asylum. But they’ve learned over decades how to game the system. Their con game is coming to a close.
Yes, correct.
Dave W has blurred the distinction of who can be counted with who is included in the criteria definition of the Apportionment Population.
Illegals can be counted. No problem.
But illegals will not be included in the Apportionment Population which is used to apportion representatives to Congress.
Sorry, this is gobbledegook. Illegals are certainly subject to US jurisdiction, watch them get rounded up and deported tomorrow. You ought to stop telling fairy tales
Trump wimped out on this one. Order it, and let those black robed tyrants try to enforce something. Giant fail on Trump’s part.

America in 2019 is a lot like California in the 1990s.
As a born and bred CA native, I'm making great bank on Trump's failure to restore the republic. Defend him by any means possible as is your won; I'll continue to profit from his lies.
There will be no such injunction. In the highly unlikely event there were, the injunction would be overturned on emergency appeal within two weeks as it would if left to stand effectively shut down an essential portion of federal government without a basis in law.
1. Recognize danger when good men are willing to trade liberty and freedom for safety while enemies attack the very basis of government.
2. Understand the founders - with only 1/3 support - based their decisions to rebel against tyranny not on precedent but faith and resolve.
3. Applaud Lincoln who - with only 1/3 support - utilized unique interpretations of the constitution to validate support for the union.
4. Realize that Trump - with 1/2 support - has a 225 year basis of precedent of multiple avenues of action - including calling out the militia - to suppress rebellion in states, departments and agencies engaged in insurrection, mutiny and treason.
5. Clearly see that Trump will not take those many and varied actions required to restore the republic, thus condemning hundreds of millions to future civil conflicts as the USA passes on the world state as a global leader.
Unlike never Trumpers, realists don't care if Trump is crude, remarked that powerful men could grab women by the pvssy, marry, divorce and upgrade to beautiful younger women, or exhibit any other social faux paus. What realists despise is the manipulation of Trump's base of supporters as if they are carnival rubes. Realists tire of the sad bunch of characters who, ignorant of history, of tradition, of movements, applaud their favorite as the very foundation crumbles around them.
“There will be no such injunction”
I would be surprised if there wasn’t an injunction. We’ll see.
The census website FAQ just states the current policy. It doesn’t say anything about the underlying law.
The key piece of missing info here would seem to be the SCOTUS ruling from a decade or so ago — the one that said whether the census CAN include illegals or MUST include them.
I do see this in one of the PDF reports at the census site:
*******************
Were undocumented residents in the 50 states included in the 2010 Census apportionment population counts?
All people (citizens and noncitizens) with a usual residence in one of the 50 states were included in the 2010 Census and thus in the apportionment counts. This has been true since the first census
in 1790.

Apparently illegals have always been counted. So, at the very least, using a method that doesn’t count illegals would be a big departure from tradition. To me this makes it unlikely to happen. OTOH Trump is a nontraditional kind of guy. If he sees an opening in the law, I could see him going for it.
No, they are not subject to US jurisdiction which means subject to having constitutional rights. They have no rights. Rounding them up is an enforcement action undertaken by military or police without necessitating trial; there are no rights, no jurisdiction. There is no Habeus Corpus for illegals. Courts cannot intervene.
And don’t bring up asylum which is a faulty legal process. Claiming asylum renders the claimant ‘legal’ for a temporary period. That faulty abused law will be changed.
Straight illegals are subject to arrest and deportation. They have zero rights under US jurisdictional law.
Learn what ‘subject to US jurisdiction’ means and stop using lazy mind labels such as ‘gobbledegook’ which means nothing.
Ha Ha Ha! You vewey funny!
NOT!
An injunction based on what? There has to be a legal basis.
Yeah, there might be some joker lawyer who files for an injunction using a basis pulled out of his butt.
That Joker will be thrown out faster than the idiot who filed a complaint that Trump forcefully kissed her.
A lawyer who files a ridiculous claim with a federal court can be sanctioned, fined, suspended. It’s not a cake walk.
“A lawyer who files a ridiculous claim with a federal court can be sanctioned, fined, suspended. “
Have you not been paying attention? Every effort to stall or stop Trump that has gone to the courts has worked. I don’t recall of any where the person requesting the injunction has been sanctioned.
There’s what ought to be, and then there is what is. What is is what you have to deal with.
Not true. Not every lawsuit has stopped the Trump Team.
Look at the present kerfuffle. Did Roberts stop the Donald? Hell No!
POTUS is steamrolling along and will get it done.
Wish I had a dollar for every ‘We Got Him This Time!’ utterance.
” Did Roberts stop the Donald? Hell No!”
Will the citizenship question be on the census?
Yes, likely on the long form or the ACS.
But it doesn’t matter.
The Trump Commerce Dept got their marching orders to get the numbers from other sources and then put together with census data to provide apportionment data.
