The mystery behind the disappearance of an Italian teen 36 years ago intensified Thursday as the tombs of two 19th-century princesses buried at the Vatican were unsealed.
Not only was the body of Emanuela Orlandi not found, but neither were the remains of Princess Carlotta Federica or Princess Sophie von Hohenlohe.
The last thing I expected was to find empty tombs, said Orlandis brother, Pietro Orlandi, 60.
Emanuela, the daughter of a Holy See employee whose family lived within the Vatican walls, was last seen leaving a music class at age 15 in 1983.

“The Vatican said the families of Federica, who died in 1840, and von Hohenlohe, who died in 1836, have been notified that their remains are missing.”
Ah, maybe grave robbers.
They all are the 2nd coming of christ.
Maybe a little vatican necrophilia going on there...

With someone who died in 1836? They gives a new definition to the word “boner,” that’s for sure...
ROFL! Great reminder this guy has always been a jerk.
I read that there was a new concrete seal on one of the doors. So I would suspect that if she had been placed in that tomb, in order to hide it all the other remains were removed, possibly along with those in the next tomb.
That said, having had connections with an historic cemetery, remains were often removed and record keeping was very poor. So this may be perfectly innocent. The only thing that worries me is the new concrete.
Looking for the bling old time princesses had.
All the remains removed but only one door recently resealed? The original remains must have been removed likely from both at some point in the past or else both seals would be new or the old remains there. Neither is true. A new seal on one suggests something was put in there and removed “recently” by someone that knew something was recently in there but does not necessarily mean yhat the person that did the removal was the same as the one creating the new cache.
