Unfortunately Tucker is wrong. A country
can be ruled by people who hate it.
There are plenty of examples in history of just that.
Most obvious one: England right after the Norman conquest.

I believe Tucker was talking about Democracies.

“Unfortunately Tucker is wrong. A country can be ruled by people who hate it.”
He should have specified that “a country cannot be ruled by people who hate it for any SUSTAINED PERIOD of time”.
Most applicably to a Constitutional representative republic such as we have.

William of Orange also took a long time to warm up to his British subjects. I think Carlson should have said “cannot be led by people who hate it”. We don’t need rulers in the USA.

The operative word being ruled.
I think if he had stated that a country can’t be effectively led or run justly by people who hate it, that would’ve been a more correct/proper statement.

Well, yes. But the results weren't very pretty, were they? Those internal feuds simmered for more than 300 years before finally erupting into the Hundred Years War, followed by the internal civil war where an incompetent family emerged victorious for another century of misrule before the accidental last monarch of their clan final turned things around.

But it can’t remain the nation it was before the haters took control. The Normans changed forever the history, culture and trajectory of English history, whether for good or bad I leave to historians. And those that adhered to the previous culture suffered.

I'm a student of history and never read any history about what happened right after 1066.

Unfortunately Tucker is wrong. A country can be ruled by people who hate it. Exactly, what the heck is that guy smoking? The general rule throughout history is that people are ruled by those who hate/disdain them.
Has everyone forgotten elementary history? Ever hear of the Egyptian, Roman & British empires among many others?
Wasn't that the entire point of the DoI - to create a country capable of self-government? The USA is an exception, not the rule.

Unfortunately Tucker is wrong. A country can be ruled by people who hate it.Fortunately, you are wrong. This isn't an abstract example of a possibility; it is an actual current event. This isn't just any country; it is a republic. Nor are we in the past; it is now. Our Constitution does not recognize or empower "rulers" over us. And all who serve in our government, from the President down to the lowly election volunteer and postal clerk, take an oath to support our Constitution and defend our nation from enemies, foreign and domestic. So she is way, way out of line, and Tucker is right to call her out.
