The British ambassador to the U.S. who criticized President Trump has resigned, the U.K. Foreign Office said Wednesday.
In a resignation letter on Wednesday, Darroch said "the current situation is making it impossible for me to carry out my role as I would like."

Surprise, surpirse. This was all choreographed. No doubt the amb approved the leak.
He can’t Spy if he can’t go anywhere ,LOL
I advise everyone to read the comments section of the London Telegraph. Hilarious meltdown on all sides of the political spectrum thanks to “Kimbo” and the leaker. Sir Arnold and Sir Humphrey over a glass of sherry couldn’t be more amusing.
Apparently, there are more leaked emails to come which is why he resigned. Or, because Johnson didn’t defend him or something...
Maybe he was just homesick? Although I figured he’d wait to be sacked rather than resign, but who knows what the real deal is. Resignation may just be a cover story.
Either way it’s a win for Trump. Another one broken!
Delayed detonation!
Pretty dumb and arrogant diplomat. Regardless of his private feelings, attacking an American President elected to office by the American people in such a childish manner is not the stuff of diplomats.
“the current situation is making it impossible for me to carry out my role as I would like.”

Yeah, we know, you don’t want Trump to be President, just like the Democrats and Bush League Republicans.
The Trump curse continues to flush out and down the toilet those afflicted with severe TDS!
Once the news broke on this UK bs, and our president said the BS stops, it has stopped.
Will May appoint another one just like him
Should have been fired....need to keep personal politics out of your job....tswift, rappinghoe, Dixie Chicks, Kaepernick, Hollywood actors, and a host of others...
Beware perfidious Albion!
The British put an accent on everything, not just the “common language” which divides us. The United States of America is the red-headed stepchild of the former British Empire, and they have always considered this country to be a fractious lot, filled with people of uncertain lineage and a propensity toward violence just for the sake of violence.
But we really are much more than that, a fact not often recognized by the British Establishment. Ours is a relatively open society, not permanently divided into classes that cannot be abridged in any way. Vast opportunities exist in America in a way they could not in Great Britain, in attaining skills beyond those exercised within a particular family for generations, moving with relative freedom about the country, and most importantly, in the mobility (both up AND down) on the economic scale.
Excellent. So they did get rid of him.
Probably told him: resign or be fired. And he chose to resign. Just so he is gone.
The ambassador was probably trying to curry favor with his superiors in taking the time to write down his futile musings, to assure them his thinking was right, and that he was a team player.
Thanks for that miss marmelstein, that sounds like a laugh riot, I will go check that out. :)
Yes, that’s true. He’s apparently a pro-Remain type with the usual condescending attitude towards Americans. I’ve seen this type for 40 years, in NYC and in London. Now he’s hoisted on his own petard. Imagine being disinvited to a dinner party for the Qatar government!! Quel embarrassment.
Many people on FR have been defending him, saying he was just doing his job. But his job was to provide information and rational analysis to the UK government, and to act as a conduit from the UK to the US government. It was not to go into Trump Derangement shrieks as a form of diplomatic communication, or to create a situation where the US government would not and could not trust him.
May should actually have removed him, but instead she has defended him and has only regretted the leak! I suspect saner minds in the UK government actually persuaded him to resign.
That would be the choice of an honorable man who made bad choices.
“Maybe he was just homesick? Although I figured hed wait to be sacked rather than resign, but who knows what the real deal is. Resignation may just be a cover story.”
My bet is this has to do with the Steele dossier and the Ambassador’s participation in getting this to the deep state.
