LIRR overtime ‘cheat’ hung out at home on the clock, retired with full pension anyway

A Long Island Rail Road worker who raked in more than $280,000 in pay last year — more than half from overtime — was busted hanging out at home while on the clock, according to a report obtained by The Post.

But he was allowed to retire before he could be punished — and collect his full pension on the public dime.

Raymond Murphy, a foreman with the LIRR’s Buildings and Bridges department who’d been at the agency since 1996, was caught by the MTA’s Inspector General at or near his home on 10 occasions when he was on duty in April, May and June 2018, the Aug. 8 report says.

But he says he has nothing to apologize for.

I unfortunately live in New York. This is par for the course in NY. Corruption everywhere. A few years ago they found out everyone retiring from the LIRR was retiring on disability. Punching tickets is a health hazard.

Why limiting government is necessary, and will never happen. Politicians reward their buddies with jobs like this, which you and I will never see.

So a lot of taxpayer money would be saved if he dies.

Federal charges...just like in the recent case of the Massachusetts State Police.Several have already pleaded guilty in Federal court and at least several are still awaiting federal prosecution.

No punishment, again. He should do a decade in prison and all of his assets seized. Alas, government corruption, even when exposed, is amply rewarded.

Some San Fran accountant with no girlfriend one year got a real bug up his as$ and did some rigorous investigating:

Video showed one Chinese BART (San Fran train) sweep-up worker would come into work at 6 am, then stay EVERY day at work, including weekends, until 10 pm or so —mmmmassive overtime.

The custodian was getting something over $300,000 per year:

The guy would disappear into a utility closet (which turned out to have internet) and simply staying there, never coming out at all.

Great scam; he performed NO work, and no one was checking.

True on both counts. Both parties thrive on patronage, in fact it's their top priority In New York the GOP's singular focus is on local patronage instead of recruiting and promoting conservative committeemen and potential candidates. It's the reason the party killed itself.

I’m guessing that he was supposed to be at the yard or wherever and be “on call” for various things.

“What the heck! Whether I’m at the yard watching T.V. or at home - what’s the difference!?”

I was at a government facility doing work on the weekends. Several government guys just hanging out - looking at youtubes, etc.

I mentioned it to my client - their boss. “Yeah. Well they need to be here in case of an emergency. I’ve tried to get them to do some other stuff around here, but then the union comes down on my back. If you push them too hard they’ll nail you for abuse. It sure would be nice though to just get at least 4 good hours of work out of a 10-hour day!”

I was at a government site and tried for two days to get on-site, but needed the approval of the project manager. We had arranged to meet at a certain time, but he wasn’t there.

On the third day we camped at his office door early in the morning and caught him as he was going into his office. He signed the paper and we went on our way.

Turned out this manager would show up at his government job early, turn on his light and his computer - then tell his secretary he had to run out to a meeting.

He would then come back at 5:30 pm, turn off his computer and lights and go home. He was working a private job for a government contractor the next city over.

And EVERYBODY knew it!

I was young at the time. If it was me now I would be calling somebody!

Only sitting at home? I am surprised they didn’t find him at another job.

Amazing how this guy goes unscathed, but if a non government working peon screws up his taxes, he is facing a process that will consume him for years and cost him everything he has.

Don’t cheat the government, unless you work for the government and know people

Funny how all of these millionaires complain about equal pay because another millionaire makes a few more bucks

How her pay being equal to a Barista at Starbucks? Someone should ask her that.

“I was young at the time. If it was me now I would be calling somebody!” I’d be calling someone too. I’d be trying to get his job. :-) There are a LOT of cheaters out there. Seems to me that most times they slide by while those that do the right thing get smacked around on occasion.

Well, I thought of an easy analogy about that.

Person one sells 100 cars at the dealership per year.

Person two sells 20 cars at the same dealership per year.

Guess #2 doesn’t bring in the same revenue as #1 and doesn’t make the same money. Butt, don’t try to ‘splain that to a screeching flag stomping soccer dumbass. Math is hard.

One I ran into would only be a minor outrage compared to your experience.

I was in a gov-co state job and the lady across from me ran a home retail operation from her desk. Common knowledge and several in house customers.

As I have written many times before . . .

It’s YOU. The Problem is YOU.
Government workers of all kinds, at all levels.
IRS, Congressional, State, County, Town, Village, Cops, Firemen, Teachers, Public Utility, Public “Authority”, and on and on and on . . .
(ONE exception: Uniformed Military. May G-d bless and keep our Heroes.))

“Wait there buddy, but I earned it”

No you didn’t.
You stole it. Willingly and with full knowledge, just because you “blanked” out about it and refused to openly acknowledge it doesn’t make you innocent.
You stole it. Along with your other public employee leeches.

So, how many Freepers fit the category?

On top of that Person one gets 9% commission while person two gets a 12% commission

Talk about unequal right? The ladies get a bigger percent of the ticket sales, they just don’t sell as many tickets or for a higher price.

Each soccer club is private, why should it be anyone’s business how they compensate their players?

This is insanity
