This is true. A break is good - I stayed at a cottage in a state park in Georgia a couple of weeks ago where there was really no internet or even much phone signal available. If you were desperate or there was an emergency, you could go sit on the porch of the ranger station, since they had satellite coverage.
But it was very nice simply being able to focus on the gators and the birds and the nice people I met. I really felt very rested after the weekend. And yes, Occasional Cortex came out with something stupid immediately, so its not like I had to wait long to get annoyed again!
Just sold the house and moving to the country. I’m looking forward to the quiet.

“Going some place where I’ve never been.”
I live in a very quiet neighborhood. The population of our town is 153,205. There is no way that I could live out in the country. I have to have houses around me, even if I don’t visit with my neighbors
Great song, reminds me of my youth.
“Just sold the house and moving to the country. Im looking forward to the quiet.”
We sold our house that sits quietly on the river with sparse population, and moved to a godforsaken PUD with neighboring houses practically squished next to each other. A major interstate is so close I can read the sides of the trucks as they roar by. Every day is hell. I miss the quiet.
Looking forward to planting a garden, working outside, etc. Been thinking about this for two years.
...campaign for President Trump and for state and local representatives who will maintain freedom of the people. (i.e not democrats)

A nice country house, a few good trees, maybe a hill, a stream nearby, lots of birds, a clear view of the open sky.. then they can have their stupid apocalyptic wars.. what would I care..
I have really tried to concentrate on a screen that requires a microscope for my old eyes, especially having conditioned myself to a great, big 17" color monotor for the last (has it been THAT long?) TWENTY YEARS !
Youre going to love it! We moved because of a job change, so we found a slice of heaven, and it’s the most wonderful place! Never knew what a rut we had been in until we moved. Life is good!
Ah, you may leave here, for four days in space,
But when your return, it’s the same old place,
The poundin’ of the drums, the pride and disgrace
Barry McGuire
I’m looking forward to it. Thanks.
I was having a great holiday until that dang earhquake made me turn on the T.V.
I really need to get around to unplugging for an extensive amount of time.
Soon.
Wonder who the ijit is that used a Mercedes crossover as the pic when the guy says right off the bat “minivan”.
Those of us old enough to remember the 20th century realize that actions are more important than disembodied words.
In 1965 the Supreme Court decided in Griswald vs Conn. That contraception was OK. This changed our society’s view of family and sex.
Most of what is said is forgettable and a distraction from that which is important. Without family we are lost.
Suggestion on gardening. Build you some raised beds, meaning about 32" high, not just a border with some dirt chunked in.
You will never regret it. Especially when you get older.
Wait - what? You can call people on those things? Like in the old days?
Damn - what will they think of next?
