I was working a burger place in Isla Vista, near Santa Barbara, when we had a decent-sized quake, in the 5s or so. Like you, I heard a rumbling, then a loud noise as the quake hit the building, saw the concrete floor ripple. The glass, and there was a lot of it, made a noise, but thankfully didn’t break or even crack.
Anyone want to bet that a death toll from a quake will be nothing compared to the death toll from the rioting and looting after?
If a quake happens in LA?
Being that people are pretty much defenseless in that state, how safe are you all gonna feel after the quake is over and the gangs start down the streets?
A friend was in SF for a meeting, had to leave early for some unknown reason, got back to his office in Emeryville, asked his secretary to Xerox some papers for him, which made her a minutes late leaving. And also saved her life because she was not on the part of that overpass that went down. Several cars back, shaken but not harmed.
Amazing intuition that man had. Plus the grace of God.
This is a bad sign. Perhaps fault stress is being released, but perhaps fault stress is being shifted to the San Andreas fault.
A 7.x earthquake is 10,000 times more powerful than a 3.x earthquake.

..... LOL .... So true. Last night We had just started watching a movie in our living room and were just settling in. First I felt the couch move a bit .... Looked at my wife who was looking at me concerned, both still on edge from the previous days shaker ...... then there was a jolt and things started shaking.
.... My dog was going crazy .... I looked out the glass door and noticed the surf was up in the pool .... Then it stopped .... wondering was it over? Just when we thought the quake was finished ..... the ground started moving again ...... mildly, but still moving. So I grabbed our dog and we headed out to the pool ASAP and waited it out in the event that something bigger might be on it's way. Luckily, that actually was the end. But you never know!!
.... We live over 100 miles from the event with the San Gabriel Mountains shielding us. I can only imagine how horrible it must have been for the poor schmucks living close to the epicenter.
9.2 on the scale....
