Texas May Cost Trump 2020 (Texas turning purple?)
The Hill ^ | July 4, 2019 | Kristin Tate, opinion contributor

Posted on 07/04/2019 8:40:33 PM PDT by nwrep

Texas demographics today are strikingly similar to those of California in 1990, before Democrats began their seven to nothing streak of Golden State victories in presidential races. Like California in 1990, the Texas population currently hovers around 29 million and is changing rapidly in light of heavy immigration from Mexico. The second generation children of Mexican immigrants have played a major role in keeping California out of Republican reach. This same transformation is taking root in Texas.

Young Texas voters overwhelmingly turned out for Beto O’Rourke over incumbent Ted Cruz in the Senate race last year. O’Rourke beat Cruz with 18 year olds to 24 year olds by a margin of 68 percent to 32 percent and with 25 year olds to 29 year olds by a margin of 73 percent to 26 percent. O’Rourke also outperformed the traditional edge Democrats already have among Texas Latino voters by a wide margin of 64 percent to 35 percent.

With these second generation Mexican Americans strongly supporting Democrats at the polls, Texas changing to a purple state could not happen at a more inconvenient time for Trump. His margin in the state in 2016 was the smallest for a Republican nominee since the poor showing of Bob Dole in Texas in 1996. Considering the immense and enduring new wave of left leaning voters that O’Rourke attracted, there is a real chance that Texas will be close enough in 2020 that Republicans cannot take it for granted.

Republicans are already walking a tightrope between the 2018 midterm results and changing demographic realities. In many ways, the resources used to keep Texas red next year are balanced by the fates in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania. Several campaign stops or a late ad buy could mean the difference in the race. Trump could see his electoral chances go to hell, if Democrats spend more time and money in Texas

Is Texas going purple? Or can Trump win a blowout victory in Texas?

Trump won’t have a problem in Texas, just more dreaming due to Cruz’s close call. But the difference is that Cruz was such a dick he no longer excites the base...now we just tolerate him, but do appreciate his voting record.

In 2014, Republicans won every statewide race by 20 points...things don’t change that fast, regardless of dreaming.

It’s been the whole Dem plan for decades.
Overrun the legal voters with “dreamers”.
It’s a soft invasion/conquest.

No, because the Texas AG is aggressively pursuing election fraud cases - alone among State Attorney Generals.

Says “Kristin Tate, opinion contributor”

But at the same time, it is an undeniable fact that Texas is changing, and not for the better. And just like California, when and if it turns Blue, decent people there are going to act like they didn’t see it coming. Come on guys, kick the cow $hit off your boots and take a look around. What’s happening in Texas doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see it.

Will Trump also win by 20 points? Or by less than 10 points like 2016?

Two retired ex-Californians here, moved to Texas late last year, registered to vote in 2020. Will vote for Trump, just like we did in 2016 (not that it mattered in California). Hopefully, he wins Texas comfortably, but we’ll do our part.

Austin is not Texas. Travis County is not Texas. Many illegals moving into Texas are assimilating. That translates to voting Republican, the Leftards are just in the old LBJ playbook in which it says once government owned always Government owned. If they catch on, they will build the wall and make even bigger offers of reparations to the black community. They used Obama phones and walking around money last election.

What if fraud is not the deciding factor, but changing demographics is?

Some of the cities may go purple, but REAL Texans don’t vote left. He’ll win easily.

It is sobering to realize that the GOP candidate carried CA six times in a row starting in 68. The Dems may not carry it next year but I fear it will be purple before long and then maybe even blue.

Look at the TX State/County Election Maps, for the past 4-6-8-10yrs - they’re turning purple from the influx of criminal illegal alien filth, and garbage scum progs from the left Coast.

Like California in 1990, the Texas population currently hovers around 29 million and is changing rapidly in light of heavy immigration from Mexico...and Central America and liberal states. We have for now a low tax and business friendly state, but the big cities are heavy democrat.

One thing they’re not taking into account is that Ted Cruz is a terrible politician. He just doesn’t have the personality for politics. I like him but beto would have no chance against a good politician.

I keep telling people... it’s only a matter of time. Between the indoctrinated youth and the flood of immigration, America is on a one way street to socialism. The GOP is not growing with any demographic. It’s mathematics. Soon the Democrats are going to have a permanent majority.
