Bovine scat. They most certainly are not assimilating. Come to Houston (where I live), go to San Antonio or go to the border. You’ll see that’s not true. The older 2nd and third generation Hispanics are still majority democrats and the newer ones and their anchor babies are a super-majority. Beto almost beat Cruz and I don’t care HOW BAD a candidate Cruz was, a lib like Beto should not have been within 15 points of him in Texas.

Trump will not lose Texas in 2020. However, there is SOON coming a day when Republicans running for national offices won’t be able to take Texas as an automatic win. And within the next two decades, it is very likely the Dems will be able to hang Texas within their auto-win column.

Texas look a LOT like Cali in the late 80s. Houston, Dallas and San Antonio, the big three, are starting their spiral. In twenty years they will be San Fran and LA.

The irony regarding historical political party strength is that Texas has elected more Democrats at both the state and national level, than California has.

Since Texas doesn't register by party, it's more difficult to find trends, but the way Texas is being swamped with illegal aliens and how migration into the state is generally occurring (more growth in liberal big cities), it is not unreasonable to think Texas could go back to being blue in the near term.
