Trump Considers Executive Order On Citizenship Question
Axios ^ | July 4

Posted on 07/04/2019 7:38:31 AM PDT by Helicondelta

President Trump is considering an executive order to try to move forward with a citizenship question on the 2020 census, top sources tell Jonathan Swan and me.

"We didn’t come this far just to throw in the towel," said a senior administration official with direct knowledge of the conversations.

Former federal judge J. Michael Luttig, who has longtime ties to officials in the administration, told Axios:

"If the president of the United States were to issue an executive order, supported by his full Article II powers, directing that the citizenship question be included in the 2020 census, I believe the Supreme Court would affirm the constitutional power of the president to include the citizenship question in the census.”

This is absolutely a stupid situation. Census questions are not required to be answered if the person doesn’t wish to. Whoever is answering the questions can just skip it. I have for years on some of them and I haven’t received an indictment yet. One in particular I can’t answer, due to my background as I can’t know, disqualifies me from answer it.

The first year the census was used, was 1790. The category names often changed in a reflection of current politics, science and public attitudes of the time. But a citizenship question will generate someone to incriminate themselves. This is not the format to use as it will not stand up in court if that’s the use of it. And if it to be used specifically for political purposes, we already know how many, roughly, there are illegally in the country. Waste of ink.

Census is required every 10 years .
Cannot have a battle between the Judiciary & Executive Branches.

Commerce Dept is in charge of the Census . Isnt it part of Executive branch?

So SCOTUS wants to delay the Census?

Don’t cave Mr. President! Fight Fight Fight

well there will be a required, costly follow up in April for those who did not answer.

On another thread there was the idea that any of us Normals who live in Blue states shouldn’t fill out the census form. That might counteract the illegal aliens who are counted and get “represented” in the Blue states.

I suggest a refinement to that. Any Blue state that is in particular working against the Electoral College should have its Normal citizens refuse to fill out the census form. We are in a situation of taxation without representation. For example, conservatives in California aren’t represented for all practical purposes but they are taxed for benefits that go to illegal aliens, who are represented most aggressively.

As for fewer Critters, NY has lost almost half its House seats over the last 60 or so years. Sucks to be us, but you cannot tell me that hasn’t been great for the country as a whole

Perhaps you have a point here. Fewer representatives are still fewer representatives when they they're all American-hating rats. Conservatives trapped in big blue states could indeed boycott.

How many illegal aliens are in this country? I’ve heard the number 11 million reported for many years. I find it hard to believe that it hasn’t changed, but have never heard how that number was arrived at in the first place.

The only question is would Congress impeach Trump were he to do so?

Top Kek.

If all conservatives in NY State refused to complete the census, the commerce dept would probably just estimate the population for representation in the House and for electoral votes.

They are looking for justification to impeach and they would definitely get support from gop if he did that

The left brazenly encourages people to break the law and makes productive people pay for it. It is time we find creative, nonviolent ways to sabotage the corrupt system.

Rush mentioned something VERY INTERESTING yesterday, which is that conservatives should NOT fill out their census forms if they live in California (and other deep blue states).

The thinking goes like this: Less people counted in Blue States, less seats in Congress for Blue States, and by definition, that means more seats for Red States.

And don’t think that it would take millions of people to have that effect. It’s possible, and probably happens, that just a few thousand people make the difference between a state getting an extra seat or not getting that seat, at least in some states.

So you people in CA, NY, IL, and maybe some others - don’t bother with the Census.

Much as I like the idea - No, not an executive order.

The Supreme Court has already said the question can be there, that’s all Trump needs to just demand, as President, that it should be on the census.

Exactly what he needs to do. Of course the district judge will try to stop him but the Supremes already ruled he can do it. Roberts will approve it on emergency appeal. If he doesn’t then he’s rotten to the core.

I have only taken part in one census, in 2010, and put down nothing more than that two adults lived at that address. Somebody came around later, so I explained that I was not answering any other questions. Never heard any more about it.

If the question can’t be asked, then I don’t see any valid reason to even hold a Census, and you could just ask for the guy’s last name only, and if they have a cat.

Are the “republicans” in the House and Senate doing ANYTHING to support Our President???? I vividly recall dingy harry standing on a box on the south lawn for the left’s daily propaganda briefing.

Some have said we should bounce every sitting federal legislator from office and start over. Perhaps that isn’t such a bad idea.
