Rep. Justin Amash Quits Republican Party
Yahoo ^ | 4 July 2019 | Matt Fuller

Rep. Justin Amash is celebrating this Fourth of July in a manner years in the making: by declaring his independence from the Republican Party.

“No matter your circumstance, I’m asking you to join me in rejecting the partisan loyalties and rhetoric that divide and dehumanize us,” Amash wrote in a Washington Post op-ed posted Thursday morning. “I’m asking you to believe that we can do better than this two-party system — and to work toward it. If we continue to take America for granted, we will lose it.”

Amash, perhaps the most fiscally conservative member of Congress, has increasingly been at odds with the GOP. In May, he became the first and only Republican in Congress to call for the impeachment of President Donald Trump. And in June, Amash stepped down from the once-ideologically conservative, now steadily more partisan House Freedom Caucus.

It is not the party system that divides us. It is the fact that one party has become utterly UN-American. Bipartisanship has done nothing more than accelerate the destruction of our federal system of governance. Amash & others on the right need to understand that. If they don’t we’re going to increasingly divide until we hit a point of no return & things start getting bloody.

No, as despicable as is Romney, we need every Republican we can get. This is a game of math and even these Rinos come through in the end with the correct votes. We wouldn’t have Gorsuch and Kavanaugh without them. This is a flawed and imperfect world made up of flawed and imperfect people. We must use every imperfect person we can get.

Libertarians are like cuckoos. They tend to lay their eggs in republican nests. 😆

Gorsuch and Kavanaugh have gotten us what? Nothing. Romney personally blocked POTUS MAGA Fed picks. Given that it’s patently obvious he’s no better than a Democrat. Worse, actually, becuase he takes the Senate seat from a potentially solid conservative.

Sorry, we don’t need progressive Republicans undermining from within. These Quislings do far more damage than good and have given us things like open borders for 30 years. This country is on the brink of a demographic disaster thanks to lesser evil thinking like yours. Had conservatives held the corporist controlled GOP accountable party policy might have changed. We didn’t and here we are about to lose our country to socialist voting Third World hordes.

How long before we see him doing a handstand on a beach in a thong?

Sheesh what an attention whore. Polling must show he has no chance at reelection.

“Amash began his op-ed by pointing out that his father was a Palestinian refugee whom America welcomed.”

Explains it all. Being a Palestinian, he can’t abide Trump’s very pro-Israel policies.

Nor Trump’s pro-American policies.

LOL. Running for President? Tilting at windmills. Would the Libertarian Party nominate him. The real reason is that Amash would lose in a Rep primary. He wants to stay in Congress and becoming an Independent is his only shot.

Could well do that. But at 20% polling in his district, probably won’t hurt Trump at all.

> I suspect he though he might not win his primary.

This is the ‘cui bono’ here. Numbers just came out making it clear he’s going to be primaried out. Thus, no chance to soak up contribution $.

By going independent, he can play for money right up to Election Day. He’ll still lose, but rake it in until then while not angering China, his true master.

the survival of the nation could depend on our freedoms' spokesman's virility.

Virility: "the quality of having strength, energy, and a strong sex drive." The name of this so-called freedom's spokesman? And in what way, in the context of political parties becoming rogue, does the nation's survival depend on this spokesman's energy and strong sex drive? Curious in Chapel Hill, TN (home of another American who got it wrong as well)
