If we lived in sh*thole cities run by Democrats, we probably would be as suicidal as the NYSlimes is, but happily, millions of us don’t.
The only downer is having to live in the same country as Democrats. We should start a fund-me page to ship them out of the USA, so they could be happy in a country more to their liking. Just think of how pleasant that would be.

Yes you are undoubtedly correct (I did not read them because I already know it is a con job). It is a con job in many ways because 1) the author get to choose which statistics ‘prove’ his/her point and 2) the author gets to ignore the problems and biases with those statistics and 3) the author gets to ignore anything that would run counter to the thesis and 4) many other reasons not necessary to detail.
What about America rising to defeat Fascism in Europe? Yes, to a degree that was partially self interest. But we could have bid our time, cutting a deal with Germany and Italy. What about the Bill of Rights - if that isn’t one of the most beautiful governing documents ever drafted since the Code of Hammurabi I don’t think there is even a close 2nd. The defeat of Communism, a hateful ideology that is responsible for more deaths than all the wars combined.
I don’t like to resort to the ad hominem and attack the author, and it’s cliche at this point but the danger of hating America because it has flaws and imperfections is to ignore the beauty of its ideals and its potential to improve because we are a free people able to explore ideas and maximize human fulfillment. And, it is to mask over the imperfections of other countries. So country XYZ may have lower infant mortality, that is something we can improve. I assure you that XYZ has plenty of other problems.

I’m a naturalized citizen, no, I didn’t come from some hugely oppressive country (although the UK is headed that way!) but there’s always a 1000 metrics you can measure against come up with this garbage. What is completely missed by this is that the USA is the ONLY country that isn’t collectivist. Elsewhere your rights will be constrained to align with what “somebody on high” decides is “in the best interests of the collective”. The UK is a great example of this. You don’t have free speech if you insult Islam because that is “likely to cause trouble”. It’s irrelevant that those that actually become violent should be held accountable, no, now it’s those that are causing the “offense” that are the problem and need to be swiftly dealt with!
Only in the USA are the rights of the individual held as supreme, that the rights of the individual ARE in the best interests of the collective. That is unique. This isn’t even considered by these fools.
They also conflate “poverty” as being the same *standard of living* across various countries. It isn’t. Those that are considered in “poverty” in the USA are most likely overweight, have a roof over their head, clothes on their back, own a cellphone, a refrigerator, etc. etc. - again, not the case elsewhere.
These people do not understand what makes this country great. They focus on the positives elsewhere and the negatives here - then come to some ignorant conclusions that we’re really not in a great place.
If you’re living in the USA in 2019 you are living the most privileged existence of any human beings in all of history anywhere on earth.

Agreed, and it is a bit similar to comparisons between schools that ignore the socio-economic differences between schools. Is it “school performance” or is it who is attending the schools. I am certain that our forced diversity through illegal immigration and our horrendous inner cities that are the product of the Great Society and its follow-on policies fully explain why our infant mortality rate is worse than some places that do not have similar burdens.
It’s astonishing that Trump actually was the first to make a sweeping inventory of the way America had deteriorated, coupled with his plans to fix it. The NYT and the rest of the elites then set about to do everything in their power to deny that the deterioration was a problem in any way, and to frustrate Trump’s effort to fix things.
True to liberal regressive form, NYT’s smug little video is just now, four years later, getting around to understanding about the horrible schools, widespread poverty in the wealthiest nation, and many other markers of decline—without acknowledging that this was Trump’s platform for change that elected him.
And also true to form, this smug little advertisement for the elites’ superior intelligence in being able to denigrate their own country and still sound like the handsome sophomore class president, implies that the viewer should blame it on Trump.
They boast about Norway but you have to show that you earn at least $47,000 a year to move there. They don’t have open border immigration.
