Fort Worth mayor says anti-racism official must resign over offensive Facebook posts

Mayor Betsy Price called for the resignation of Human Relations Commission member Mike Steele on Tuesday, hours after Steele’s demeaning and offensive Facebook posts drew attention.

Steele’s Facebook posts drew public scrutiny when Emily Farris, a Texas Christian University political science professor, began tweeting screenshots of them.

She said she was appalled to see Steele’s public profile, calling his posts “racist, sexist, transphobic, and anti-immigrant.”

Steele said he did not plan to resign. He touted his military service in the Gulf War, saying he is a disabled combat veteran, and mentioned his time as a Watauga city councilman. He said his position on the commission was "a calling, and that I have fought foreign enemies, and I will fight domestic social media mobs."

Mike Steele stands up for the 2nd Amendment and is not happy about immigrants to the United States that do not wish to assimilate to our values.

Interesting this is what the mayor said about Athiest banners being hung up downtown:

“I was appalled when I saw the banners currently being displayed downtown, as I do not support or agree with the message,” she tweeted. “We must respect freedom of speech. As we approach the Fourth of July, we must remember that many Americans have fought and died for the freedoms we cherish today.”

So she respects atheists free speech but not the commissioners right to free speech.

And, the establishment of George Orwell’s 1984. Orwell understand the danger of unleashing the evil in human nature when a few have gained power over the many. That has happened today because the majority of our paths of communication (Television, movies, music industry, books, education, technology, internet, etc.) have fallen into the hands of those of one ideology which lusts to stamp out all other beliefs and practices, values and ideas. Big tech may be the greatest threat, because of it’s size, appeal and now deep roots into our society, which allows it to control what is seen and heard. It can censor at will and very few people will know of it. Look at what a few people have done over at the NIKE company, even though a poll shows that most of us disagree with that kind of censoring out of the history of our flag. Will people just roll over for this erasing of our history when those erasing us get to Mt. Rushmore? Or, will some event refocus us on the search for truth once again? I hope all of you will go out and celebrate a traditional 4th of July as long and as loudly as you can. That is certainly what I am going to do, with barbecue and all the trimmings, plus banana pudding enough for 2nd helpings. That is the American way and we need to treasure it as long as we can.
