A fire on the sub is the worst nightmare of all submariners. When there is one, everyone becomes a firefighter regardless of their job. Fire consumes oxygen which is terrible undersea. It could damage equipment or access to equipment that is needed for surfacing. Basically it could rapidly turn into a death sentence for everyone on board. It must be pretty terrifying to be in that situation.
I used to read that!........................
Could very well be. That’s a pretty impressive piece of kit if the numbers published are correct. Never in my wildest days did I ever have a burning desire to descend 6000 meters into the ocean.
I used this subject for current events day one time in elementary school...

Human wave is fundamental to Russia. About all they could do for centuries was overwhelm an enemy if possible.
Our Civil War comes to mind with men sent into the meat grinder repeatedly. That was the only way Hitler was defeated on the Eastern front. No matter how many he killed it wasn’t enough.
Stalin wasted millions some with no reason except to further the lies about spies, enemy agents and saboteurs he used to stay in power.
Severomuork is pretty close to Finland, Sweden and Norway.
Prayers for the victims and their families. And for any negligence on the part of the Russian government to be brought to account.
Sounds like the NR1 Spy Sub
Former nuc submariner her, my son is a sonar submariner (dang coner pukes). All I can say is training, training, drill, drill drill. As if your life depends on it.
Death due to smoke inhalation. The Russians dont have something like a emergency breathing device?
Thanks for posting the English article summarizing the sad incident.
The probability for sea cable problem is reduced.
I think so...

The Kursk immediately comes to mind.
I used to love that show when I was a kid.
Funny now is all I see is the technical errors.
Just cannae be arsed, can ye?
Maybe this wasn’t an accident.
Maybe this has something to do with Pence returning to the White House.
Or maybe not.
Shhh, it’s a secret.
The problem for the Russian Navy is that every time one of their subs sink they have no evidence that points to what caused the trouble in the first place.
How many more subs of that design will also sink?If I were a crew member Id be worried.
I remember the days of the recruiters trying to get us to join the Armed Forces. The Navy guy was a true salty dog who tried to sell me Submarine duty. I could not imagine doing that work in those conditions. Drowning is a nightmare. I went into to the Army and did something just as ridiculous: jumping out of a perfectly good airplane.
Ah taught mah bairns tae graw up free, nae Russ
