Despite the popularity of a recent celebrity dodgeball game featuring Michelle Obama, many are calling for the banning of the game among children. “We’re asking kids to hit other kids with an object and that’s no longer appropriate. We don’t use kids as human targets anymore,” says Judy LoBianco, former president of The Society of Health and Physical Educators.
“The aggressors are going after kids who are weak and afraid. The last thing we want kids to feel in school is weak and afraid,” she asserts. It fosters and encourages bullying, some claim; it teaches aggressive behavior, argue others.
Certainly, bullying should not be condoned. There should be no patience for behavior that physically harms kids, demeans their inherent dignity, or involves sexual aggression. But many in our increasingly snowflake-filled culture think the answer is to try and eliminate all contexts in which bullying, of any kind, might happen. This is terribly naive.

If one really, truly wants to put an end to bullying, there is one sure way to do just that.

The problem with all this, as many of us know is that the real world IS BRUTAL and it DOES NOT CARE about you or your thin skin or your fears and insecurities.
IT will CHEW YOU UP and SPIT YOU OUT if you’re not tough.
Hell, it’s done it to tough people.
Kids with trophies for 12th place won’t have a chance.
Ban the internet. That will stop 75% of bullying.

I hated dodgeball, mostly because even when I was 160 lbs I was absolutely terrible at it, along with most other competitive sports.
You know what I did?
I sucked it up and focused on the things I was good at.
We played dodge rock too...and with pellet guns.
We also played chicken with hunting knives.

in the parking lot with REAL donuts!
A little bullying wakes kids up. Makes them realize it’s not all Santa and the Easter bunny. Toughens them

Agree. We played on the parking lot of the church while going to Catholic school. I’d probably change that to a grassy area but besides that. Play dodgeball!!!!
Tag is a sexual assault, and red rover is racist against Native Americans...
