Mitsubishi Motors announced on Tuesday that it is relocating its North America headquarters to Tennessee, becoming the latest Japanese automaker to leave the state and head to a Southern state looking for lower operating costs.
Mitsubishi, which employs 200 people in Cypress, told the Orange County Register in a statement that the Nashville area offers strong technology skills and cost savings through the business-friendly work environment.
The move will also bring the Japanese automaker closer to its sister company Nissan and strengthen Tennessees growing reputation as an epicenter of the automotive sector.
Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee and Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner Bob Rolfe who made the announcement with Mitsubishi Motors North America say the headquarters move from Cypress to Franklin, Tennessee, will result in an $18.25 million investment in the region and approximately 200 jobs.

I’m sure that the lowest cost of living, operations, and labor in the US had nothing to do with it.
Great Move!! Wonderful place to live, work and raise a family!!
Greater metro Nashville today reminds me of greater metro Denver in the 1990s. One massive construction zone of development.
One of these days you're going to wake up and ask yourself, "Who are all these people? Not one of them was born here."
Wait 'til they start voting.
Yes! It seems that everyone who can is moving to Nashville.
...”Wait ‘til they start voting.”...
Yes. Having a bunch of New Yorkers and Californians move into your state is NOT a blessing. They bring their progressive, leftist, culture with them. Evidently, they have no idea of why your wonderful state was somewhere they wanted to live.
California—a bit of corrupt South American socialism north of the border.
You know what they say, "Chrisley knows best."
When a lot of Californians move to another state they bring more than their furniture. My brother lives in Prescott Arizona and they have moved there in droves. They crowd out the natives and turn anyplace into a liberal paradise which is a nightmare for the rest of the people.
We don’t want/need any more CA libs moving here to TN. They’ll contaminate the place, and by 2024 we’ll be purple at best, and solid blue at worst.
I live in an area that is still conservative albeit sparsely populated. One thing about California, you can’t beat the weather. I’ve lived all around th U.S. and everywhere has its beauty but the hardest thing to deal with is the humidity it’s rare here.
Well, there goes healthcare for another 10,000 illegals... Time to raise gas taxes again!
Hopefully, some employees will choose not to move.
At least some of those late arrivals (I moved here in 1994) are coming precisely because they know California (etc.) is a paradise destroyed by liberals. I work with a couple of guys like that.
This is what has happened to NH since the mid 1980’s. NH was the last Red conservative state in New England but has changed to purple/blue from the influx of Liberals from states as far away as California.
This is now happening to Idaho. I sell several customers involved in new home construction in Idaho. It is one of the fastest growing states in the country right now. 4 out of 5 of the people moving into Idaho is coming from California. The other is coming from Seattle. With just over 1 million people, it is just a matter of time(twenty years) before the Liberals will out vote the conservatives.
They are like LOCUSTS.
Nashville area offers strong ***technology skills*** and *cost savings* through the business-friendly work environment.
*** Non illegals
* Lower taxes
Unfortunately, many of these new people in TN are liberal scum. Nashville is getting worse each year.
LIBS are malignancies on civil society. I live in UT. Idiot LIB losers are few in southern UT but becoming many in SLC. Damn all LIBS. We shun and “discourage” these pathetic lunatics here.
Now they're spreading their cancer to other states. It started with them moving to Oregon. Now they've infected Nevada and Arizona.
Any locals to OC want to explain to me what impact this is having on OC? Is this a huge loss that is another symptom of the California decline?
