Israel confirmed Friday morning that it had reached an agreement for a truce with the Hamas terror organization, hours after Arab media outlets reported on the deal.
A senior Israeli official confirmed to Army Radio Galey Tzahal that the Israeli government had indeed signed on to the deal, which would soften economic sanctions on the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip in exchange for an end to incendiary bomb attacks on Israeli border towns and farm land.
As part of the agreement, Israel will expand the fishing area open to Gazan boats to 15 miles from the shore. Dozens of boats confiscated for straying from the approved fishing area will be returned as part of the deal.
In addition, Israel will resume the transfer of fuel to Gaza through the Kerem Shalom border crossing, which was closed on Tuesday in response to the ongoing balloon terrorism.
The deal, which was brokered by the Egyptian government and the United Nations, aims to end the regular attacks on Israeli border towns and farm land by Hamas terror cells, which have used balloons and kites to fly incendiary bombs over the frontier into Israeli territory.
A senior Israeli official said that the agreement would end Hamas attacks or would be scuttled.
In response to the request of Egypt and the UN, Israel will permit the return of the expanding fishing area and the transfer of fuel in exchange for Hamas agreeing that the violence against Israel will stop. If Hamas wont stand by its obligations, Israel will restore the sanctions.

5 minutes?
The drum roll continues for now.
Try not to think of Lucy holding the football for Charlie Brown. Think positive.
bad deal they get fuel, isreal gets nothing, always the same..
President Sisi is an honest broker and is hated by the Islamist Terrorists. Erdooo (in Turkey) hates Sisi because he does not tolerate the Terrorists. I've read that President Sisi was from near where Anwar Sadat was from in Egypt. Both acted to promote peace and stability.
Hamas will tell the truth ... like Democrats last night.
Let’s hope he doesn’t end up like Sadat.
Hamas will of course, break this truce. As they always do.
I’m guessing that these balloon and kite fire bombs don’t do too much damage. And when Hamas breaks the truce Israel can justify a targeted attack.
I always get a kick out of the reports. Hamas rockets a field or vacant school. Israel hits a couple of Mercedes with high value targets inside. They must know where these guys are all the time and take advantage of it when they can.
Off course with some of the attacks Hamas is successful in causing injury and death. I hope that isn’t the case from this “truce”.
Yes.
But Sisi has the vast majority of Egyptians solidly behind him and the Egyptian military has cooperated with the Israeli military in anti-Terrorist activities from the start.
Yes, there have been attack on Christians in Egypt. But in every case extreme punishment was brought down on them quickly. It appears the message got delivered, the number of attacks has greatly diminished.
“Hamas will of course, break this truce. As they always do.”
Israel knows this. Israel would trade 100 terrorists for one dead Israeli soldier. It gives Israel a chance to realign themselves with the current situation and focus on some short team goals while a long term strategy is formed.

hamas can not control the fringe. The attacks will continue in some less expensive manner.
Fuel for new kite and balloon bombs.
Hamas will not control the fringe, which exists to fool those rube Jooos! Plausible deniability lives.
Violence and lying is their religion, genocide of the Jews their commandments. One can make deals of all else, but religion.
This is secular foolishness, the hallmark of the Israeli government.
LOL, I needed a sarcastic smirky laugh. Is Hamas going to burn their little constitution?
They’ll just go back to rockets, which were probably not mentioned in the cease fire.
As long as the rockets remain pathetically ineffective, as they have been, that might be an improvement. Those balloons cause real damage.
Send Israel a pallet of Evian water. Drink the thirst quencher.
