Thanks. I figured it was something like that. I turned 18 on November 1st 1972 and I didn’t have to wait long to vote for Nixon. I knew that McGovern was a total commie back then. What I wasn’t aware of yet was the difference between conservative and RINO. Sometimes I wonder if I wasn’t better off being naive.

I lived across the street from primary school. I walked to school. I lived two blocks from middle school. I walked, until 7th grade, when the infinite wisdom of the government deemed I must be bussed across town to go to another school. The idea was that the poor underprivileged black kids would get newer books and better teachers if the white kids had to go there too. It didn’t happen. The new books were destroyed, if they were ever opened, new fixtures were torn from the walls. Black teachers talked about black this and black that. Younger white teachers were scared and overwhelmed, obviously having been steeped in liberal ideology. It was awful. Shut up Kamala. You weren’t the only one who got bussed.
No way an 18 year old could vote in a federal election no matter what state they lived in.

I believe Harris grew up in Oakland, CA. If so, the high schools were integrated. There was McClymonds High which was nearly all black and covered a part of Oakland that was all black. Otherwise, Castlemont, Tech, Oakland, Fremont were integrated. The surrounding city high schools, Richmond, El Cerrito, Berkeley, Albany, Hayward, Alameda were all integrated.
