Full title: GOP Rep Calls on Congress to Divert Billions of El Chapos Drug Funds to Help Construct Border Wall
When it comes to constructing a wall at the U.S.-Mexico border, one GOP member of Congress is offering a suggestion on how to get the funds for it.
Rep. Vern Buchanan (R-Fla.) wrote a Fox News op-ed published on Tuesday in which he suggested that Congress divert the funds made by Mexican drug lord Joaquin El Chapo Guzmán Loera to help secure the U.S. southern border.
El Chapo is a convicted drug lord who will be sentenced on Tuesday to a lifetime in prison after smuggling loads of drugs into the U.S. and being found guilty in February on 10 counts.
Its time to put his confiscated assets to work building a wall at the southern border with Mexico, Buchanan said.

Good Idea — that will horrify DemocRATS.
Silly, since neither the DOJ nor FBI has been able to locate these billions as of yet.
This is brilliant! This is one kind of assert forfeiture I’d be all for.
Helps find where Ted stands ... imho
Obama diverted BILLIONS of bank fines to the DNC and other pet projects with ZERO accountability!
Can congress give Rep. Vern Buchanan a hardy “NO SALE” quickly so we can send this story to the trash heap? That isn’t what I want, but it’s going to happen, nevertheless.
Seeing as that a good portion of the illegal drugs are coming across our Southern border it sounds like a good idea to me.
I remember when panel trucks were being sought. Many had fake info on the doors in electical tape. Many panel trucks were found.
Last year, last complex .... Bring It
An effective border wall would do more to reduce the inflow of drugs from Mexico than anything else that money could do. It would be a legitimate use of the money except that i am sure there is some wording that limits its use to largely ineffective means.
Just do it!
