The Supreme Court on Thursday blocked, for now, the Trump administration's plan to include a question on the 2020 census that inquires about a person’s citizenship status.

The definition of Census since early times was:
(in ancient Rome) the registration of citizens and their property, for purposes of taxation.
That very definition demands that the citizenship question must be part of the census.

Ultimate weasel. Both in coming up with this ruling and the prior Obamacare logic.

Census has stated they can meet a later deadline, the July 1 deadline was arbitrary.

1. What is the difference between Sumter & and the coup? One was kinetic action directed at federal troops initiated by a confederacy interested in forming their own independent country. The coup was an illegal attempt to prevent, then alter the results, and then overthrow the lawfully conducted government for the *entire* country.
2. What is the difference between the military engaged in willful mutiny, and both State & Justice acting with intentional disregard to presidential direction?
3. What is the difference between certain states acting in concert to openly defying federal control over citizenship, voting rights & representation vs states openly aligning to form their a confederacy?
4. Last, quoting Story "... the Union might itself be endangered by an influx of foreigners, hostile to its institutions, ignorant of its powers, and incapable of a due estimate of its privileges". Don't you think he may have missed another point, one wholly obvious at our present time? That is, what if the invasion force was actually acting in concert with foreign powers - as well as domestic enemies - to affect a fundamental change in the country? How come this isn't considered an act of war?
In each of the instances I listed above, how come Trump hasn't come close to acting anywhere near to the forceful measures Lincoln took? What more is required to recognized the existential threat to the Union? And this is where I've come to realize that you, and perhaps many others, are still stuck in the negotiation phase.
What if Trump, rather than a Washington or Lincoln, is actually just a Nero? A narcissist playing to his own ego, seizing on the suppressed outrage of 1/2 the country, yet unwilling to take the hard steps to actually recognize, fully engage & fight (back) in the 3rd great US domestic war?

Now that IS great. As always, shows they understood at the beginning what the nation was about: a free people deciding their own future for themselves, not subservient to a either a hostile ruling class or an alien and hostile invading group.
Lemme know when ButtBoy Roberts, Spaniard Supremacist Sotomayor and Soviet Comintern members Kagan, Ginsburg and Breyer figure all of this out.
I always write in that I am a US citizen, quote the Constitutional authority for the census, and fail the answer the stupid questions. Push back, don’t just blog.

Thanks so much for showing the citizen of this country that we no longer matter. It appears that obeying the law is optional as well, so I’m sure you will back us up if we choose not to pay taxes any longer.
Over the years I’ve paid taxes knowing I was supporting my fellow citizens but since that’s no longer a choice, I pick this law to not honor.
Boy, that’s a relief, now I will have enough money to hire private security to protect myself against the non citizen who will be flocking across the borders because you refuse to defend the rule of law.

Excellent point! The local radio station that broadcasts Rush has a very partisan leftist news anchor. She chose to protray this as a huge loss for Our President. The news is only as good as the manner in which it is reported!

Here's what needs to happen, for the citizenship question to be on the 2020 Census:
The fed gov:
(1)(a) gets the ruling we need in the lower court in a timely fashion or
(1)(b) gets a positive ruling back from this Scotus in a timely fashion when the lower court rejects the new explanation
and
(2) the fed gov then has enough time to print the updated forms before the census goes out.
If anyone at the top of an organization can get it done, Trump can. But this is still the Federal Government (Commerce Department) we are talking about here and there are still a number of things that have to go "our" way in order for this to happen.

Good Point, however, if the Trump administration turns this around quickly it can send it directly back to the Supremes using a Writ of Certiorari.
