New York and New Jersey are the two least patriotic states in America, according to a WalletHub survey.
The personal finance website says New York is the 49th most patriotic state and New Jersey is the 50th.
For their survey, they compared all 50 states based on two key dimensions military engagement and civic engagement.
Military engagement took into consideration military enlistees, veterans, active-duty military personnel and residents in military reserves. Civic engagement looked at factors like AmeriCorps and Peace Corps volunteers and the number of adults who voted in recent elections.
New York ranked 49th for military engagement and 44th for civic engagement, while New Jersey ranked 48th for military engagement and 45th for civic engagement.
New Jersey and New York also have the fewest veterans per capita, according to WalletHubs findings.
The survey says New Hampshire, Wyoming, Vermont, Utah and Idaho are the most patriotic states. Joining New York and New Jersey at the bottom of the list are Texas, West Virginia and California.

But then I bet we weren’t surveyed.

Unfortunately, y’all get what NYC votes for as NYC has 8.6 million of NY state’s 16.5 million population!
This is why the electoral college is a GOOD thing.
Not surprised.
Still Wallethub.
Nuff said.
3 of the 10 are blue. There shouldn’t be blue states on any list involving patriotism.
Well, that makes perfect sense... There are fewer Americans living there then in other states... Accept maybe Calipornia...
RE: Unfortunately, yall get what NYC votes for as NYC has 8.6 million of NY states 16.5 million population!
NY State has a population of 19.5 million.
However, NYC and surroundings OVERWHELM the votes of the vast majority of the other NY citizens.
I share Disraeli’s opinion on statistics :-)
NYS has 62 counties.
The vast majority of those are red.
RE: 3 of the 10 are blue. There shouldnt be blue states on any list involving patriotism.
I actually see this as a promising thing. This tells me that DESPITE the larger number of folks in these blue states who are not patriotic, there is also a huge number of folks in these states who are. Unfortunately, they are not large enough to be the majority.
It’s like in my state — NY.
If you go upstate, you will see many people who love this country and volunteer their time for their community.
However, the vote of upstaters cannot overwhelm the huge number of liberals in New York City. Add the number of illegals who, because the governor and his assembly recently gave drivers licenses, and you will understand the problem.
Because they harbor and protect non citizens who do not have a vested interest in being a part nor do they have any allegiance.
How is joining AmeriCorps and Peace Corps NOT the exact opposite of patriotically joining the military?
How is voting for Obama or other anti-American politicians NOT the exact opposite of patriotically voting for Trump or other patriotic/America-first politicians?
Whatevs.
We got da money
Utah more patriotic than Texas. Yeah, right...
