Former Fox News reporter Carl Cameron said Monday that he left the network favored by conservatives because "right-wing hosts drowned out straight journalism with partisan misinformation."
Cameron made the remarks in a promotional video about why he joined Front Page Live, a website whose goal, in part, is to serve as an antidote to the conservative Drudge Report.
"Whats a former Fox guy doing here on Front Page Live, partnering with progressives?" Cameron, who worked at Fox News for more than two decades, said in the video. "Well, its about facts, not partisanship."
Cameron, now Front Page Live's chief political correspondent, said that he joined Fox News in its early days because the "idea of fair and balanced news appealed to me."
"But over the years, the right-wing hosts drowned out straight journalism with partisan misinformation. I left," he added, before noting that he has "unique insight and understanding of how the right operates, and literally 30 years of covering Donald Trump."
Cameron said that the job of Front Page Live will be to simply "inform, that's it," and touted the new website as a "a powerful resource for anyone who wants real facts over partisan propaganda."
Front Page Live did not immediately respond to a request for comment from The Hill.
Cameron retired from Fox News in 2008 after serving for 22 years as one of its chief political correspondents. He said in email to colleagues at the time that he would be "immensely grateful for the relationships, experiences, and many lessons over the last two decades, TV Newser reported.
Cameron told The Washington Post that he had a lot of "respect for the people that try to do journalism" at Fox News. He added that he kept his "personal beliefs very very to myself" while at the network.
Cameron teamed up with Joseph Romm, the founding editor of ClimateProgress.org, to create Front Page Live, The Post reported. The company describes itself on its website as a place "dedicated to helping diverse voices and content go viral, and a news source that reflects the values of the majority of good people on our amazing planet."
"Part of our goal is to be an antidote to the Drudge Report. But whereas Drudge aggregates and viralizes right-wing content, which includes a lot of disinformation and climate science denial, we will aim to aggregate and viralize accurate news," Romm, who serves as editor-in-chief and CEO, said in a statement to The Hill. "We are 'liberal' only in the sense that climate science has been labeled 'liberal' by climate science deniers.
"We are trying to be a place that will save people time because its simply way too hard for anyone to sip quality water from open fire-hydrant that is online news and social media especially because there is so much sewage thrown in."
Romm told The Washington Post that he views the organization as a viralizing engine for the left. The site will reportedly be populated with audience-tested headlines. Cameron also said on a promo video that stories will include "act now" buttons for people to get involved in campaigns related to a particular topic.
He was not separating partisan commentary with hard news, fact-based reporting.
That stood out to me too.
"News" based on focus-groups.
He can go to CNN where he can hang with all the other far left loons no one forced him to stay at Fox..he always had that “Im full of sh*t” look on his face could not stand him, like a Shepard Smith clone
Must not of bothered him too much. He put 20 years in and retired before he came against them.
“The conservative drudge report”
Riiiiggghhhht.
Well he brings nothing to the table. He just ditched all his viewer.
According to “Campaign Carl,” Donald Trump is guilty of everything as charged, and is still conspiring with Russia.
It is amazing how some people can pretend to be conservatives for so many years, and all along were ‘wolves in sheep’s clothing.’
So the new term for ‘liberal bias’ is ‘straight journalism’? Gimme a break. Besides there’s lots of liberals at Fox... more money was donated to Hillary from Fox than to Trump. No one in their right mind would confuse Chris Wallace with a conservative...
Let’s see how long it is before he’s working for media matters.

Please inform Carl (Shrimp) Cameron that Drudge had a magical moment in London and departed for the Dark Side.
Shepard Smith is a liberal too. So is Donna Brazile... There’s not one conservative anchor at FOX. Opinion people - yeah - conservatives bring in the money to keep the doors open... but the choice spots go to liberals.
He’s right Foxnews has a point of view, which is why “It was founded as the antidote to PBS,MSNBC, ABC, CNN, NBC ETCETERA “
I thought of Carl Cameron as a Bush guy.
I wonder if this is just him cashing in (or showing his true colors), or if this might be an indicator of a movement within the old Bush network, leading up to the 2020 primaries/elections.
Whoever wrote this drivel can’t even get the basic fasts right.
Cameron retired in 2017, not 2008, as anyone who watched him cover the 2016 election would know. Idiots.

He looks like that because he’s a chain smoker.
Yes he reported on campaigns and Im almost positive he was the reporter who broke the news story right before the election about George W. Bushs DUI 20 some years previously.
2017 makes more sense, and honestly, I didn’t even know he retired and we watch Fox News all the time. Just kinda forgot about him....
Fox News too Conservative? This entity was devised to counter the Drudge Report?
This is an article that wouldn’t even have been accurate in the early to mid 2010s, let alone today.
Another ozone layer premise that fails...
