“This is what I was wearing 23 years ago when Donald Trump attacked me in a Bergdorf Goodman dressing room.” With those words—and an accompanying image—on the cover of New York magazine, E. Jean Carroll, the longtime advice columnist for Elle, became at least the 22nd woman to accuse the president of the United States of sexual misconduct. The allegation features in an excerpt—published Friday, from Carroll’s new book—about the “hideous men” she says have assaulted her; that group also includes Les Moonves, the former CEO of CBS.
Despite the litany of claims against Trump, Carroll is only the second woman to publicly accuse him of rape. Her account is graphic and detailed; was corroborated by two friends who recall Carroll telling them about it at the time; and echoes what Trump told Billy Bush, in the Access Hollywood tape, about grabbing women “by the pussy.” You’d think, then, that it would have been a much bigger story over the weekend. Was this accuser silent during the 2016 campaign? If so, has she offered an explanation for that?

My, my and it was concocted several years after the Access Hollywood tape was released. Indeed, there's an excellent chance she created it by modeling her libel to parallel that very tape.
I read that she has a long history of claiming to have been sexually assaulted. If this was actually true, you would think that she would have come out in 2016. Why wait until 2019, oh that’s right, she’s promoting her book
If you read the lengthy excerpt from her book that is out there you’ll see that she writes in an overly poetic, hyper-intellectualized style. It’s unbearably pretentious. Reminds me of Peggy Noonan on her worst day, but 1,000% more liberal.
She also adds an absurd level of detail to every “encounter” she alleges, but its mostly superfluous details about the setting, as if she’s writing a novel (hmm...). As you mention, when it comes to the important details of the alleged assaults themselves, she’s much more vague.
It’s clear that she’s either delusional or lying. I’d put my money on the first; she seems like a complete nut.
It’s a law to prevent people from profiting from the commission of a crime. Initially designed to prevent a notorious murderer from cashing in on his notoriety.
In this case, if her book sales can be credited in whole or part to the publicity from a rape hoax, they’d be subject to that law.
She hadn't invented the story in 2016 ...

I give her story no credibility for four reasons: 1) she claims Trump raped her in a woman’s dressing room in a public department store - why would a billionaire man whose face is known around the world be wandering around in a department store buying things? They send out other people to buy stuff for them when they need it; 2) she suddenly remembered when he has been in the public eye for decades; 3) she is unattractive and qualifies as an old bat; and, 4) I doubt Trump with his celebrity and his money would need to rape anyone and don’t think he has the lack of character to do so.

Context is always deleted, when that “quote” is used, in the MSM. Here’s an excerpt from the transcript:
TRUMP: “Yeah that’s her in the gold. I better use some Tic Tacs [breath fresheners] just in case I start kissing her. You know, I’m automatically attracted to beautiful... I just start kissing them. It’s like a magnet. Just kiss. I don’t even wait. And when you’re a star they let you do it. You can do anything.”
BUSH: “Whatever you want.”
TRUMP: “Grab them by the p****. You can do anything.”
Clearly, Trump is joking that groupies let stars do anything. IOW, they would be consenting to the act — not victims.
My claim that I am a time traveling robot sent from an undiscovered galaxy to save all of mankind got short shift from the media too. So I understand.
She’s bluffing. Her story is loaded with “tells.”
She kept the clothes for 23 years, but for 23 years never mentioned anything?
She brags about smuggling a MAN into a ladies’ dressing room, and then claims his presence there wasn’t consensual?
Department stores always post clerks at entrance to dressing room to monitor how many items customers bring in & out.
But no clerks noticed her sneaking Donald Trump in??
She furiously fought him off, but quietly so as not to draw attention?
Preposterous.
Awwww, poor thing. She was attacked by a billionaire who popped suddenly into her dressing room while she was changing, and he held a knife to her throat!
Oh, wait. That isn’t how it happened? Wait, she went into a dressing room WITH HIM, as an adult? She took off her clothes and made out?
No wonder her story got less traction than his ding dong.
