How Roy Moore Could Actually Win Alabama’s Republican Senate Primary
FiveThirtyEight ^ | Live Blog: Women’s World Cup Jun. 20, 2019 | Geoffrey Skelley

A large primary field may fragment the vote, making it unlikely that a candidate could win a majority and avoid a runoff and making it easier for Moore to advance to a runoff with only the support of his base.

The point is that Moore does have a path — especially a path to a primary runoff if there’s a crowded GOP field. And if he does get there, he would be only one step away from a rematch with Jones.

Moore would still have a decent chance of winning a general election in conservative Alabama, and that is surely a big part of why he’s running again.

I support Judge Roy Moore's bid for the US Senate seat. For Alabamians, and for the United States.

Judge Moore will shake things up in Washington!!

Cry Democrats Cry . . .

Sessions should announce he is in, IMHO.... He’d win without any issue.

I'm certainly not one of those who acts on behalf of the M.of P.

But, I tend to give a candidate ONE chance to beat another one. That is because things seldom go better the second time around.

Same thing with Hillary.

Correct but he has been exposed as a Deep Stater. I mean, I'd accept a win from him, and still not expect much by way of conservative values out of him any more.

Whatever Roy Moore is accused of pales in comparison to that of the Senate RINOs who have sold out America to drug cartels, illegal immigrants, endless wars, and globalist trade deals.

The VA GOP keeps foisting Ed Gillespie on us, he lost a Gov. race and a Senate race.

I live and vote in Alabama. Roy Moore lost to Jones once before and if we are stupid enough to nominate him again, we deserve 6 more years of Democrat Jones. It is time for Republican voters in Alabama to send Moore a message that he is history and not wanted.

He’s no Romney, Murkowski or Collins... He’d be a more reliable vote than any of them when it comes to things, and a I’ll take him in the Senate over a D holding that seat any day.

Moore had his chance, sadly, he lost... I do think he could win the primary, with a split field. He has a very loyal base, but as the last cycle showed, not enough to win the general.

I really suspect that Mister Moore is far too toxic to win anything, at all, ever. And, the stuff against him (rightly or wrongly) is "out there", and can and will be effectively used to further tar the person.

In fact, from the end of the article...Trump said “the consequences will be devastating” to his agenda if that happens. And that might be true — Moore would probably improve Jones’s chances of winning reelection. (Jones even egged on Moore to run again.)

The optics of a man well into his 30s "dating" teenagers simply is not unrecoverable.

Far better to get a younger, more dynamic, and more photogenic (and preferably a veteran) candidate and one with no (real or imaginary) toxic baggage.

Again...

The optics of a man well into his 30s "dating" teenagers simply is unrecoverable.
