President Donald Trump approved a series of cyberattacks targeting the systems Iran uses to launch missiles, Yahoo reported.
Personnel with U.S. Cyber Command launched the attacks Thursday, the Friday report notes, citing sources within the administration. The sources told reporters that the Pentagon proposed launching them after Irans alleged attacks on two oil tankers in the Gulf of Oman.
This operation imposes costs on the growing Iranian cyber threat, but also serves to defend the United States Navy and shipping operations in the Strait of Hormuz, Thomas Bossert, a former senior White House cyber official in the Trump administration, told The Washington Post Saturday.
The White House has not responded to the Daily Caller News Foundations request for comment about the nature of the attack. The Pentagon also declined to comment, citing policies preventing the Department of Defense from discussing ongoing cyberspace operations. Why would our people even be discussing this?
Why would our people even be discussing this?

If theyre discussing with Yahoo, they are not our people.
Dan Bongino discussed this on a podcast this week. It appears this happened.
Thanks, but I don’t want want the wapo paywall.
It shows Trump didnt actually wimp out.
No its just standard misdirection. Trump never does anything random.
Well, messing up Iran’s facebook page will REALLY teach them a lesson!

What sources? Who violated national security statutes?
Why does this have to be in the news?
Just do it, you dont need to let the whole world ( including our enemies ) know.
He should do this on the sanctuary mayors first
Former intelligence officials still have clearances and access?
In some cases, that may be OK. I know of two such characters who should not.
There are no cases where former employees have access even if they still have their clearance status. And if they did, and released this kind of classified information, they would be looking at long prison sentences.
Chill out a bit. President Trump said this to get hackles up (not Yours) all that really happened was we Renamed Pong.exe to Reallybadvirus27634.exe and solitaire.exe to zoltarget897041.exe and then hid them in an E-Mail Attachment called babysheepinthongz.jpeg and hit SEND.
Ikhab and Snofly will be too goggle eyed and frothing at the mouth to look for any Viruri until after they close the .jpeg that triggers the 2 .exe files to mix and take over every Monitor in their Network with 4 decks of cards getting swatted back and forth.
You make a very important point. A security clearance even at highest levels does not grant access to info except on a “need to know” basis.
Many believe just having a security clearance allows those having it to access all gov information.
“Former” means it ain’t our people...question is how it got leaked.
