In April 1944, two Slovakian Jews named Alfred Weczler and Rudolf Vrba escaped from Auschwitz, and provided one of the first eyewitness accounts of the horrors of the European concentration camps. Both men had been rounded up with a group of their countrymen and sent to the Birkenau section of the camp in the spring of 1941, where they were immediately put to work as slave labor.
This was before the German regime had properly streamlined and industrialized efforts to destroy European Jewry. In the early days of the camp, any man incapable of labor was immediately executed. Those who survived were sent to do the grueling work of construction.
The men began their work at sunrise, and except for a half-hour break at noon, when the prisoners were fed cabbage and turnip soup, they worked until 6 p.m. For dinner, the men were given an ounce of moldy bread made from “ersatz flour and sawdust.” Lice and fleas tortured their emaciated bodies as they slept on wooden boards. “Rats were so bold they gnawed at the toes and fingers of sleepers and stole the crumbs they had left in their pockets,” wrote Robert Conot in his book “Justice at Nuremberg.”

I remember seeing photos in an old LIFE magazine from the war years of the Russian Front where they had captured a mass execution area. Those photos were burned into my memory.
The Nazis had laid down logs and brush, then had the Jews lay on them, then they were each shot in the head. Then more wood laid on and another layer of Jews, more wood and more Jews, then the pile was burned.
The photos showed a pile captured by the Russians, before it was burned with the dead, many men and women, with their heads sticking out of the pile.
Such photos would be too traumatizing for today’s snowflakes to look at, but back then people reading the magazine were made of ‘sterner stuff”.
If the inmates in the camps escape does this mean they run back to where they came from?

True. What concerns me is -”those who voted for her.” It seems like every store I go to has very few younger employees who show up on Saturday. In the 28 years since I bought this house, not one kid/teen has ever asked if he/she could do anything to earn a few dollars. In NJ back in 55-56 I used to mow laws with a push mower ( no gas) plus shovel snow out of 2-3 driveways when it snowed heavy. I thought $2 - $3 bucks was big time in 1955-56. My late wife’s brother served 3 years in the Marine Corps in 75-78. He lived with his mother his entire life until he died this year at age 62.
I wish I were wrong as I know this nation’s history, loved it more then my own life, and; like many others here, we want to MAGA.
A neighbor as I was growing up was a Polish Catholic who joined the Resistance.
Captured, he was put in Auschwitz where he was forced to feed the bodies into the ovens, and was once put in a line-up where every other man was shot point blank.
Through all of this, he still prayed with his to-be wife through the fences and eventually married, had a child and emigrated to the US.
Most of this was not known to those in our community until after he passed and a local paper did a write-up on him. (I have it somewhere)
His son, my brothers friend, recently died and had lived his life in sports, with his career putting him as Community Relations Vice President of the NY Yankees.
I’ll never forget the old man. His old tractors had tool boxes right behind the engine where he would keep a couple of beers when he worked the field.

Get and read a copy of The Holocaust Chronicles; gives a good picture of what National Socialism and Communism does to the people who they don’t like or agree with.
Exactly. Because of lack of teaching of Civics, American and World History the general public doesn't know enough to dispute her. Esp any under the age of around 40. An intentional situation I might add.
