On the other hand, "Austrian School" of economics is the real deal. The Austrian School is a school of economic thought that is based on methodological individualism—the concept that social phenomena result exclusively from the motivations and actions of individuals. The Austrian School originated in late-19th and early-20th century Vienna with the work of Carl Menger, Eugen Böhm von Bawerk, Friedrich von Wieser and others. Friedrich August von Hayek, in particular...

It is unfathomable how the country that produced Hayek, "The Road to Serfdom," and Austrian School could give this award to Soros.

“It is unfathomable how the country that produced Hayek, “The Road to Serfdom,” and Austrian School could give this award to Soros. “

Awards to rich people are all about currying favor, not honor. They want money. Also, every conservative organization seems doomed to eventual control by somebody the founders would despise.

“creative destruction” — catchy phrase. Didn’t some famous economist once utter those words?

Schumpeter was famous for his championing of that thing Soros most hates--free-market capitalism and entrepreneurship in particular.

Schumpeter's classic phrase was "creative destruction," to describe the free market's continual renewal of itself through entrepreneurs' competitive improvement of their goods and services to grab new customers--out of nowhere, upending the big dogs in the market.

The foundation has obviously been hijacked by Communists. It would be like Hillary Clinton getting the Mother Teresa Prize.

Soros, he just likes the "destruction" part, as long as it's of someone else's wealth and liberty.

He also titled a book “Capitalism, Socialism, and Democracy” in which he predicted the rise of the likes of Soros, AOC and other parasites on free market success.

Yep. Way out of context for what the prize was established.

And I doubt, for that matter, Alfred Nobel would be pleased that his Peace Prize was given to the likes of Gore and Obama.

I was hoping “Joseph A. Schumpeter Award” was what they named the JDAM that took him out.
