The issue is that individual rights are powerful so it’s near impossible to force anyone into treatment. Typically the parents can’t or won’t do it and thus we have societal ills.

Lack of steady, stable two parent home hurts, too. The female with children would destroy the current system. That happened. Look at African American households (72% unmarried mothers when child born).
Not good to be unable to relate to normal parents when stresses and crises happen to children. No rock for them (obviously not in a Judeo-Christian family usually now). “Progressive” parent often says “I just want them to be free and happy” rather than “this is right and this is wrong.”
