I'd argue we no longer have a country, at least as compared to what it was when I was young. Today, America is more of an economic trading zone connected to other nations by sovereign killing trade pacts and agreements. Reducing income tax and adding tariffs would so much boost up domestic output for exports. Instead the globalist traitors want us to borrow from China to buy Chinese goods, turning us into Italy or some 3rd world country
They want to turn us into Italy 3rd world vassal basket case, borrowing from Germans or Chinese to buy their crap and double enrich them
Reducing income tax would eliminate that loophole making us pay taxes for trying to export, and increasing tariffs would force other nations to fund our military. But no, we cannot have nice things, we must be the vassals of the Brits or something again, courtesy the Kenyan traitor and the Australian intel and deep state

Our economy is NOT on fire. We just last year, ran the largest trade deficit in world history, with China.
The biggest. Ever. Between any two countries.

I went to a Walmart this week. Practically EVERYTHING was made in China.
Not food. Not clothes. And there was some fishing lures made elsewhere. However...
ALL the fishing rods, all the reels, all the tackle boxes. All the tools. All the kitchen hardware, all the electrical goods, all the washing and drying machines. All the toys. All the coffee machines. All the outdoor goods. All the camping goods.
All the lawn furniture. All the household goods. All the games. All the flashlights. All the coffee mugs. All the shoes. All the decorations.
Basically EVERYTHING not edible, not clothes, and not fishing lures. Was all made in China.
I know there are exceptions, but not many.
Shameful.
Bring back those jobs, to America.
