President Trump approved military strikes against Iran in retaliation for downing an American surveillance drone, but pulled back from launching them on Thursday night after a day of escalating tensions.
As late as 7 p.m., military and diplomatic officials were expecting a strike, after intense discussions and debate at the White House among the president’s top national security officials and congressional leaders, according to multiple senior administration officials involved in or briefed on the deliberations.

As usual, Trump is trolling the media and gets bonus points for keeping Iran on edge. “Trump’s indecisive, Trump’s a war monger, Trump’s afraid.”
I think a fair counter strike would be to take out Iran’s best producing oil rig. That should cost around 180 million. The message that should go along with that is if Iran strikes again, every rig will be taken out.

Iran is goading us into military action... of that there is little doubt, most likely in an attempt to stabilize their regime, which has been in decay for quite a while.
A common enemy and “war” are always good for uniting the people.
I have no idea why the pull back, but my guess would be information basically confirming the above supposition. That or, other retaliation options were presented. Like I don’t know, another Stuxnet Attack or equivalent.
While my initial reaction is bomb them into the stone age, I know that that’s not always the wisest action. We will see.
