Seven Republicans — not nearly enough to override a veto — broke from their party to disapprove of the sales to Saudi Arabia: Senator Susan Collins of Maine, Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, Senator Mike Lee of Utah, Senator Jerry Moran of Kansas, Senator Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky and Senator Todd Young of Indiana.

The Saudis should be the ones going to e to toe with the Mullahs. By all means sell them the arms to do it with.

Trump is trying to build up a coalition to handle Iran without putting US troops and treasure on the line. Here is the Senate trying to undo what Trump is doing. Whatever happened to “the loyal opposition?”

If I am reading the Prsident’s Mideast plan correctly, he is trying to form a NATO-like coalition of Israel, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan and a few more to keep the peace in that part of the world. That means we will supply arms and expertise but they will fight the battles. I like the concept and hope it is for real. Congress must support the President.

I have two U.S. Senators: Pat Roberts and Jerry Moran, both Republicans. Roberts is retiring, so I will vote for someone else in 2020, although my days of supporting him ending long ago. I am done with Jerry Moran, he is near the top of the lineup among the Trump Haters. He is next up for reelection in 2022. I will not support him and will not vote for him.

Veto....yawn. Done deal. Let the Saudis fight the Mullahs and we will get the benefit. If we don’t sell them what they need they will buy it elsewhere.

The usual gang of Republican dipshits. Mostly RINOs. Rand Paul I understand. The rotten apple doesn’t fall far from the diseased tree. Mike Lee is becoming a major dipstick. This cretin voted to the left of Mitt Romney. Romney!!!

Effin’ Linda Graham had to showboat yet again. What stinks is that there’s no one of any ability who’s standing up to have Linda primaried and booted out of the Senate once and for all.

I wouldn’t allow arms sales to Saudi Arabia, any more than to China. If the Saudi’s want arms, they need to change their ways. The Saudi government is supporting Islamic terrorism all over Africa. They don’t believe in any type of freedom, whether it be speech or religion.

Stupid and dangerous. The Saudis are our friend and ally against Iran, which is the real threat.

Typically, the Saudis are big believers in greasing palms to get what they want. Not crude bribery, but extended long term lobbying and subtle persuasion.

For example, they wanted to do a deep penetration into the US culture to improve their status with ordinary Americans. To do this they subsidized a bunch of US universities.

“The Associated Press analyzed federal data and found that at least $354 million from the Saudi government or institutions it controls has flowed to 37 American schools since 2011.”

This is not the crude stuff that other countries do to lobby on their behalf, and it does work. They have made a lot of friends.

Which raises the point, How come they didn’t do it this time?

“Journalist” Jamal Khashoggi was obviously a spy, though it is unclear who he was working for. So why shed a tear for him? Even if he was working for the US, he was expendable.

So what is the real issue with these senators?

It’s a futile vote if a veto can’t be overridden LOL!

For a while Lindsay Graham was free of McCain and actually doing good things. But I suppose Romney got his hooks into him and now he’s back to his old ways.
