The Senate voted to block the sale of billions of dollars of munitions to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates on Thursday, in a sharp and bipartisan rebuke of the Trump administrations attempt to circumvent Congress to allow the exports by declaring an emergency over Iran.
In three back-to-back votes, Republicans joined Democrats to register their growing anger with the administrations use of emergency power to cut lawmakers out of national security decisions, as well as the White Houses unflagging support for the Saudis despite congressional pressure to punish Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman after the killing in October of the journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

Perfect timing ....dumbass dipshits .
All because of their bleeding heart sympathies for Raghead Kashoggi. ..
The Saudis should be the ones going to e to toe with the Mullahs. By all means sell them the arms to do it with.
Trump is trying to build up a coalition to handle Iran without putting US troops and treasure on the line. Here is the Senate trying to undo what Trump is doing. Whatever happened to “the loyal opposition?”
Can you say “C O R R U P T I O N”.
I thought you could.
If I am reading the Prsident’s Mideast plan correctly, he is trying to form a NATO-like coalition of Israel, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan and a few more to keep the peace in that part of the world. That means we will supply arms and expertise but they will fight the battles. I like the concept and hope it is for real. Congress must support the President.
I have two U.S. Senators: Pat Roberts and Jerry Moran, both Republicans. Roberts is retiring, so I will vote for someone else in 2020, although my days of supporting him ending long ago. I am done with Jerry Moran, he is near the top of the lineup among the Trump Haters. He is next up for reelection in 2022. I will not support him and will not vote for him.
I’m not even worried. We have a lot of black funds for this stuff anyway..
Veto....yawn. Done deal. Let the Saudis fight the Mullahs and we will get the benefit. If we dont sell them what they need they will buy it elsewhere.
I have not read the plan you describe, but if one could get all those players to play nice with each other, that would be good.
I am not sure why Lindsey graham would object to this and at the same time support action by us against Iran.
The usual gang of Republican dipshits. Mostly RINOs. Rand Paul I understand. The rotten apple doesn’t fall far from the diseased tree. Mike Lee is becoming a major dipstick. This cretin voted to the left of Mitt Romney. Romney!!!
I just asked a similar question. Why would Lindsey Graham oppose this but support action against Iran as vocally as he did today?
Effin’ Linda Graham had to showboat yet again. What stinks is that there’s no one of any ability who’s standing up to have Linda primaried and booted out of the Senate once and for all.
So no other problems with the Saudis?
I wouldn’t allow arms sales to Saudi Arabia, any more than to China. If the Saudi’s want arms, they need to change their ways. The Saudi government is supporting Islamic terrorism all over Africa. They don’t believe in any type of freedom, whether it be speech or religion.
President Trump shoukd claim that Congress has tacitly approved his actions because they failed to override his promised veto.
Historically we supply arms, then fight against them within 2 decades.
Can’t SA sale some golden toilet seats and get some weapons that are 2 generations old?
This is why we have the Iranian bombers and drone killers.. to run weapons to the sunnis. Makes sense with the timing now.
So I take it youd rather send one of your kids over there to take on Iran.
The idea that you want to wait until SA changes its ways says to me you havent a clue.
Stupid and dangerous. The Saudis are our friend and ally against Iran, which is the real threat.
But Congress should support the president in this.
