A U.S. high-altitude drone was shot down Thursday by an Iranian surface-to-air missile over the Strait of Hormuz amid heightened tensions in the region after last weeks attacks on two oil tankers, a source told Fox News.
A commander for Iran's Revolutionary Guard said the shooting sends `a clear message' to the U.S. He said while Iran has no intention of war with anyone, it's "ready for war."... (MQ-4C drone).

... has been the case for several days now, there are an awful lot of folks here agreeing with Russia and China in support of Iran
Fkn trolls everywhere, hijacking threads early.
NO, I don't think you're really ready for war against our superior military.
Send another drone up in the same position and then blow up the Sam sites that try to shoot it down. Should have done this the first time.
No troll, and also no potty mouth. Your having to name call and insult a lot of posters early in this thread. Maybe you should take a sabbatical for introspective. If that doesnt work, try an optorectomy.
I'm not having a senior moment. Do you consider the flight of a military drone to be an "innocent passage" under international law?
Yes, happens all the time in INTERNATIONAL airspace.
Was that in English?
If you're not a troll then don't accuse the AMERICANS on this board of working with our enemies.
Until you stop doing that, you're nothing *but* a troll.
1. An exercise with weapons of any kind (if the drone was armed).
2. Collecting information prejudicial to the defense of Iran (if the drone was observing Iranian defense assets).
3. Launching or landing any aircraft.
4. Launching or landing any military device (in case some lawyer wants to claim that an unmanned drone is not an "aircraft").
5. Carrying out any research activities (in case someone wants to claim that the drone was simply observing schools of fish in the water).
Hmmm, siding with, sympathetic to, working with...I suppose its a grey area, but yes. If you start blaming the US for exercising its rights in international waters, accusing the US of making false claims to start a war when facts show the claims are accurate, then you are indirectly making the job of our servicemen more difficult. Besides that, the ignorant conspiracies get annoying.
Ahhh, a sea lawyer now. Good luck with all that.
Oh really? I WAS one of those "servicemen," before you ever opened an account on FR and started making yellow veiled accusations.
After my first deployment combat deployment to the Middle East, I spent years of my life there doing things that you wouldn't believe... even if I told you.
I can verify all of it, here. Now. Because other FReepers here know me in REAL LIFE... and just because I can.
Now WHO TF are you?
Read my profile and take some meds.
And suddenly I'm a "sea lawyer" for citing the applicable law? OK -- LOL.
Please clap.
I don't take meds, and anyone can have an elaborate profile page... a lot of them have been FOS.
So in other words, nobody here knows you and you're still just a steamy pile of internet mystery meat?
Heard John Kerry might have advised the Iran to taunt the USA to start a fight and hurt him in 2020..Kerry and china are colluding to bring trump down! AND HOW MUCH YOU want to bet Ovomit is also behind it!! God grant president wisdom cause no one can be trusted in the Pentagon globalist swamp!
Was in before The AAABEST Mullah Loving CIA Hater.
BTW, nice blasphemy AHole.
This is a very unfortunate escalation no matter where the plane was or what your interpretation is. You just don’t shoot these planes down. This is going to cause a response now. No doubt it will be a measured response.
Well, your profile says nothing, so maybe you are FOS as well.
No mention of your honorable service on your own page?
No, but you are quick to cut down anyone here with a different point of view than yours. Talk about hijacking threads.
Right. Only the U.S. Navy is allowed to shoot down aircraft over the Persian Gulf. See Iran Air Flight 655.
You need to do a little research and study some history, not just pick an arbitrary point in time or document. Try 1) International Court of Justice Corfu Channel case, 2) 1958 Geneva Convention on the Territorial Sea and Contiguous Zone, 3) Third United Nations Law of the Sea Conference (UNCLOS) (and look at who the signatories are and aren’t), 4) UNCLOS Article 44 and obligations of coastal nations. While you are at it, look up 5) Freedom of Navigation Program and FONOPS.
